Michael Jackson

It is amazing to see the world's reaction to Michael Jackson's death.  Just a week ago, ask anybody's opinion of Michael Jackson and the first thing that comes to mind would not be how great of an entertainer that Michael Jackson truly was and still is in memory.  Now, with the passing of Michael Jackson, people want to remember exactly what they were doing when the famous "Thriller" video made its television premier.
Amazing, but this is Michael Jackson's legacy in a nutshell.  Jackson's life was a life of so many ironies of life shaping the artist for the incredible and the horrible.  Incredible was the "Thriller" album selling over 100 million copies worldwide, a feat that has never been done and probably never will be in music history.  Incredible was Michael Jackson bringing together and making great music with music artists from all different genres.  Incredible was Michael Jackson's numerous ground breaking accomplishments that would change the way the world views music forever.
Entering the music business at the age of 5 obviously gave Michael Jackson this advantage, knowing this business inside out by time Jackson was a teenager.  However, is losing your childhood worth the price?  Because of an overbearing circumstances, i.e. Motown and Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson never had a choice.  Bottom line, Michael Jackson could never find out how to seperate his profession from who Jackson was as an individual.
From what we knew about Michael Jackson's upbringing, was it so surprising to see the skin complexion metamorphisis, the frequent nose jobs, and other peculiar tendencies and behaviors?  Was is so surprising to see Michael Jackson's fondness for little children?  Was Michael Jackson truly a freak or a product of his environment?  History will give so many different answers to these questions.
History will also show that Michael Jackson was not just a great black music artist.  Michael Jackson was a great music artist!  Many media pundits are attempting to portray and put Michael Jackson in some sort of racial fishbowl and make this a black and white issue.  This is sad.
However, what the media cannot hide are worldwide tributes currently taking place to honor the unforgettable memories of Micheal Jackson.  The media cannot hide music video networks playing Michael Jackson videos nonstop and showing the blend of all races and nationalities in Jackson's music videos.  This is not an issue of someone not being able to imitate Michael Jackson's legendary dance steps because of their skin color.
Days have gone by since Michael Jackson went home to glory and I still can not stop thinking of Jackson. I keep asking myself the "what if" questions.  Michael Jackson will truly be missed.
So to answer the first question, we should celebrate Michael Jackson for what Jackson's music made him:  The Best there is! The Best there was! The Best there ever will be!
R.I.P. Micheal Jackson, you will always be loved.
