If you are into downloading videos, television shows and movies onto your computer from the Internet, and want to share them with your friends and family, this set-top box is for you. If you make home movies using a digital camcorder, this little gadget is for you.

You’re probably wondering how the Apple TV works. You can use it with a Mac or PC. It works by synching with iTunes, which is also available on both platforms. Whatever video you can download to iTunes (or view in iMovie if you have a Mac) can be viewed using your Apple TV box.

The Apple TV does more than just play movies. It also plays music videos and shows people your photos and slide show presentations made in iPhoto and Keynote. When you use the Apple TV with a Mac, if you can dream it, you can share it. It’s portable, too, so you can bring it with you to work presentations and wirelessly synch from your laptop to any TV the box is connected to.

If you are looking for a device that will also work as a DVR, this isn’t it. This first generation release does not synch with a TiVo or other DVR.
