Pregnancy is a time of sweeping changes. Changing hormones affect your emotions. Your physical body is changing to make room for the new life within. Some signs you are pregnant begin shortly after conception whereas other signs begin later.

Below is a list of common signs you are pregnant. However, it is important to remember each women is unique. You may have some of these signs or none of these signs.
- Delayed or missed menstrual period
- Implantation bleeding - This may occur ten to fourteen days after conception, the embryo implants itself on the uterine wall. This may cause spotting and or cramping.
- Swollen or tender breasts - This may begin as early as one to two weeks after conception Hormonal changes changes in the breast. The breasts may also feel fuller or heavier.
- Fatigue and tiredness - This can begin as early as one week after conception. During early pregnancy the progesterone levels rise. If the levels of progesterone are high enough, it can cause you to sleep. Furthermore, blood sugar levels and blood pressure lower while blood production increases. The combination of these conditions can decrease your energy.
- Naseau and or morning sickness - This may begin two to eight weeks after conception. This may stem from rapidly rising estrogen levels which cause the stomach to empty more slowly. A heightened sense of smell may also be a culprit.
- Backaches - This may occur early in pregnancy
- Headaches - Hormonal changes can increase blood circulation which may cause headaches.
- Frequent urination - This occurs six to eight weeks after pregnancy. Pregnancy causes more fluids to accumulate in your body and may cause more frequent urination. Swelling of the uterus can also place more pressure on your bladder.
- Darkened areolas -
- Food cravings or aversions - This is usually caused by hormonal changes.
- Heartburn - When the uterus starts to swell, it put pressure on the organs.
- Constipation - An increase in progesterone can cause food to pass through the intestine more slowly which can cause constipation.
- Mood swings - Changing hormones can cause you to me more emotional.
- Faintness and dizziness - Blood vessels dilating and consequently, blood pressure lowering can cause lightheadedness or dizziness. Lower blood sugar levels in early pregnancy may cause faintness too.
- A rise in basal body temperature - Basal body temperature is your temperature upon awakening in the morning. Usually your basal body temperature rises slightly after you ovulate until the start of your period. If the temperature remains elevated more than two weeks, you may be pregnant.
Conclusion
Just because you have some of these symptoms or signs, it does not necessarily mean you are pregnant. Sometimes these signs may indicate another problem. If you have any of these signs and you think you may be pregnant, take a home pregnancy test. Dependant upon the sensitivity of the pregnancy test, you may get an accurate test eight days after conception. If the home pregnancy test is postive, consult your doctor to confirm the pregnancy test and for prenatal advice.
