Homemade Fitness Equipment
Most individuals fail to realize that, unbeknownst to them, they already have a capable sit up machine somewhere inside of their home. Although you may not be aware of it, there are plenty of devices in your home that can be used as a sit up machine. Truthfully, you can transform other pieces of equipment into a great sit up machine that targets many of your abdominal and core muscles. Making the most out of different pieces of equipment you already have, is a great way to save you money as you work on achieving your goals and providing yourself a total body workout.
One great device you can use to create a good sit up machine is a pulley or cable. Ropes, pulleys, and cables are excellent household items that can be used to develop chest and stomach exercises. For example, if you have a pulley or cable device, you can use both of these items to perform many different abs exercises that can replace the use of a purchased sit up machine. One such exercise requires you to kneel down in front of a cable pulley while grasping the handle or rope with both hands over your head. You begin the workout by pulling the weight down with your arms until your head is just above the floor. You raise your body up as high as you can without sitting straight up again. This exercise allows you to develop the ab muscles using a simple sit up machine made out of cords and ropes.
Another exercise you can do with the same type of sit up machine is the cable ax chop. This exercise requires you to stand up next to a pulley or cable machine and grab a rope handle with both hands. You start this abdominal workout by bringing the ropes down and across your body and then slowly raise the rope so your arms are both over the shoulder closest to the machine. These exercises prove that there are great methods for building the stomach muscles without spending huge amounts of money.
With that being said, it is important to realize that even a simple workout bench can be transformed into a homemade sit up machine device. Fortunately, you can do many different ab exercises with just a basic exercise bench. You can turn it into a sit up machine by positioning your body in an incline push-up position with your feet resting on your bench. But, instead of placing your palms on the floor keep your entire elbows on the floor. As you contract your core muscles, hold this position for 30 seconds and you just completed a brief but intense and effective core muscle exercise. The more times you perform this exercise, the quicker your waist will narrow down and your abdominal muscles will firm up quickly.
However, it’s important not to stop there. Nearly any type of item in your home can be turned into an effective sit up machine if you creatively think through it. You may have a large stability ball to help you with stretching or to add intensity to other exercises. In addition to this, you can also use the stability ball directly for sit ups and various other abdominal exercises that provide a great workout.
If you don't have any of this equipment in your home you will be able to find all of it and more at the gym. Gym memberships are costly in the long run, but many people prefer the atmosphere and the wide range of available machines, weights and services. Therefore, if you like going to the gym, feel free to get creative with your use of various stations and equipment to provide yourself a unique and successful abdominal workout.
There are dozens upon dozens of different ways that you can work on building up your midsection and getting better abs. The great news is that if you don't have a sit up machine, you can turn other pieces of equipment that you already own into one. Or, you can use various machines at the gym in new ways to produce the results you are looking for. When you don't have a sit up machine, just make one from scratch! It is important to do whatever it takes to create that strong, ripped, “washboard” abs.
