Smartphone Description

A smartphone is typically a mobile phone with advanced capabilities such as a full QWERTY keyboard, email functions, web browser and other PC-style applications.

Typical manufacturers of smartphones include Nokia, Ericsson, Palm and of course Apple with their ubiquitous iPhone.

There is no accepted industry definition of a smartphone, but many typically use n identifiable operating system which allows the installation of arbitrary applications which increase the device's functionality from its base installation.

Popular Smartphone operating systems include Symbian, Linux, Windows Mobile, Palm OS and OS X. Most of these have a significant counterpart in the Desktop market.
