Snoring Solutions - Jaw Supporters Can Be Effective

Trying to find a solution for snoring has been occupying a lot of people for many years.  Women tend to snore a lot less than men, however whether you are male or female the chances are that, as you get older, you will snore a lot more.  This is because age weakens throat muscles and, as they become weaker, you are more likely to snore.

One snoring solution offered to snorers is a mandibular advancement splint.  It sounds very complicated but basically it is a lightweight mouth piece which pushes your lower jaw forward slightly.  When you are asleep, your airway narrows and causes the soft tissue in your throat to vibrate  this is what causes you to snore.  The splint reduces the risk of your airway narrowing during the night.

Snoring Can Ruin Relationships

Breathing through your nose can reduce the chance of you snoring. If you are suffering from a cold or flu, there are numerous medications on the market which can help unblock your nose. This means that both you and your partner can get a good nights sleep you wont be tossing and turning and trying to breathe through your mouth and your partner wont be disturbed by the sound of you snoring.

Whilst adultery and money problems are usually seen as the main causes of marriage breakdown, snoring has also been cited as one example of unreasonable behaviour. Whilst this may seem rather trivial, it can play a major role in the breakdown of a relationship. If one partner is continually unable to sleep, this can lead to so many problems which suddenly seem insurmountable.

One thing that can contribute to a solution for your snoring is to look at your lifestyle and adopt some simple changes. Eat a balanced healthy diet and avoid excess alcohol (especially in the evening). Alcohol is a muscle relaxant so you are more likely to snore at night if you have had a few drinks. Take regular exercise and lose weight if necessary all these things can help reduce snoring.

No Single Snoring Solution Works For All

If you suffer from a blocked nose, either due to sinusitis or because you have a cold or flu, then, on top of everything else, you are more likely to snore. This is because the nasal passages at the back of your throat will be narrower and will stop air flowing freely whilst you are asleep. If you have taken medication to help you sleep, you are also more likely to snore as your muscles will have relaxed even more than usual.

Trying to find a solution for snoring has been a problem for a very long time. One of the main reasons for this is that lots of things contribute to the chances of a person snoring. It would be much easier to find a cure if there was just one cause of the problem. However, as there are numerous contributory factors, there is no single solution.

A medical condition called sleep apnea can result in snoring. This condition means that a persons breathing is interrupted whilst they are asleep they therefore breathe unevenly, sometime taking deep gulps of air which can cause sudden snores. Although it is a common condition, especially in men, it can be serious and should be discussed with a medical professional.
