Speer Reloading Manual

My Speer Reloading Manual

My Speer Reloading Manual is missing I know who I lent it to but he lost it in a move he made between towns. If it shows up I may get it back I know I would if it was anyone else I would be pissed. But this friend and I go way back and we used each other many times over many years.I will buy another but I may not find the same one again.

I guess some times things happen for the good you never know what good loads speer has come up with. The thing is I have shot a speer load for years in my seven mil. mag. I know it by hart its the speer 160 grain BT with 62.5 grains of IMR powder.

I have shot seven inch at five hundred yards every year before the moose season for years its just a way to get my shooting eyes on.

Reloading Data and Tips

I have found that there is a lot of information on reloading data on the internet.  The finest way to find a particular or rare load I found was to go to Yahoo Answers, sign in and ask the question.  This can take a few hours or a day, but the answers are great and a lot of them are suitably researched.  I like it anytime I can get good quality and fast help for free.

To buy reloading products I just go to the reloadingbench.ca and hook up to a good source from there.  Some of the greatest data you will get is what you save and discover when you are reloading.  I found that I was guilty of not writing down and saving a lot of information that I ought to have been when I was testing loads, then having to reload and test the same products again.  The explanation that this can be the best reloading data is that it is what your gun likes or does not.

When you reload, you will discover most guns are mass produced but are hardly ever the same.  I have found this on nearly all guns I have reloaded for.  You have to remember that form fitting to your gun can alter your accuracy, so when testing loads attempt to use form fit brass to start with or the accuracy test could be skewed.  The once fired brass will continuously give your best accuracy.

I have constantly looked for the hottest load that is the most accurate.  What I mean is, when testing powder loads I always look for a load that is it’s most accurate at its hottest load.  This does not happen regularly, but when it does it is remarkable.  I was just looking for more information on reloading data and checked the Hodgdon manual and found it would be very beneficial to a new reloader to read about the different kinds and purposes of products that you may need.  This information should be available in most manuals.

The big benefit I had when starting to reload was a friend who was a reloading fanatic and had a library of manuals and the advice to go with it.  I asked him why he never entered any of our Rod and Gun shoots.  He said it would not be fair because no one there was in his class.  Then he proceeded to show me why.  His gun of choice was a bull barrel .308 with a Douglas barrel and electronic trigger system and a scope I did not identify but it was huge and not one for hiking with.  He showed me his targets and affirmed that if he could not bust an aspirin at two hundred yards he was back to the reloading bench.  He also explained that he could not compete a weapon like that against a few hunting rifles.  Looking at some of the five shot groups at a hundred yards that were in the same hole, I had to concur.  He thoroughly showed me the value of a good stock of Reloading Data.
