What is the median of the following set of numbers: {5, 7, 2, 9, 4, 3, 7, 6, 1, 5, 4, 7, 8, 9}?

a. 4

b. 5

c. 5.5

d. 6

e. 7

First, we must put the set into ascending order, which gives us {1, 2, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, 9, 9}. We then find which number is in the middle. Since the two middlemost numbers are 5 and 6, we take the average of these two number (5.5) as our median.

Thus, the answer is (C) 5.5.

What is the average of the number of hours in a day, days in a year, and years in a decade?

a. 10

b. 24

c. 365

d. 150

e. 133

Since there are 24 hours in a day, 365 days in a year, and 10 years in a decade, we take the average by adding these three numbers up and dividing by three, which gives us 133.

Thus, the answer is (E) 133.

Over the course of five dates, Greg spends $295 on his date Kim. How much does he spend on average per date?

e. 7°

Since the rise in temperature is 20° over the course of 4 hours, the average rise in temperature is 5° per hour.

Thus, the answer is (C) 5°.

b. 3

c. 4

d. 5

a. 2

b. 3

c. 4

d. 5

e. 6

We first add up all the numbers, which gives us 100, and then divide by the number of numbers, or 20, which gives us a mean of 5.
