starting a new business

Starting a new business can be nerve racking for some people. I know this because I have just started a new carpet cleaning business. You may ask why would you start a carpet cleaning business.

I thought about doing this for a long time. I did not start it until last week. I started the business because my fiance got laid off from work and we were trying to figure out what to do until he found out when he was going back to work.

I decided to start the business because we already had the equipment and we only had to buy the cleaning solution. This part was easy because we did not need to invest too much money to start. The down fall however was the fact that when we got a contract they would try to lower the prices on us when the job was done. One lady wanted everything cleaned and the carpets done for only 40.00 I laughed and told my partner to come back home.

Most people figure that when you say reasonable prices, they think that it means they can negotiate the price. Our prices are good and affordable but if you under cut the competition and than the person you are doing the contract for tries to under cut you, Than you are not making money. It is hard to turn down contracts some times but you need to know how much you are worth for that contract.

The pros of owning your own business: you get self satisfaction and you know that it is a stable business if you are getting the calls.
