Why Consider Freelance Writing?

Freelance writing is a very popular choice for people seeking to make a flexible income that includes being able to work from home. Its something that literally anyone can get into, plus it has the added benefit of being able to write about a subject that interests you since so many outlets for making money exist. So I will show you how to get freelance writing Jobs. Available jobs and not business opportunities please.

In this hub, I will prove many aspects of this very popular freelance forum including:

  • You can find real jobs that do exist in great abundance
  • You dont need to pay for access to directories and job sites
  • You dont have to accept low paying projects from $5 an article (please dont..)
  • You can avoid being scammed by fraudulent employers
• You can find real jobs not just 50/50 revenue sharing options (though these are good and will serve another hub as you can work from home in freelance writing doing this)

I wont be covering revenue sharing schemes here as this hub is about how to get freelance writing jobs and not revenue sharing options.

A good start is to decide which writing venture interests you more - technical writing, copy writing, proof reading, copy editing, SEO writing, academic writing...

This Online Directory is a One-Stop Solution For Finding Jobs!

This directory has a constant rush of jobs, around 237 writing roles when i last checked! Its the best one if you wish to find a part time or full time freelance writing job quickly.

Get a Real Job that You can do from Home!

Where do I find these jobs - i seem to find only expensive eBooks on the subject promising the Earth?!

First, there are many opportunities to work from home in freelance writing jobs available right now. You will find jobs through knowing how to locate and pin down the correct writing role that suits you. That is what I will show you here. There are lists of FREE and low monthly payment (around $5 to $7 a month) options all over the web and I have spent a great deal of time researching in order to know how to get freelance writing jobs.

It is competitive like any market. You will need to brush up your resume if you have not already created one that targets freelance jobs. Employ the services of a professional CV writer if this is not your area. Your resume needs to target the freelance work you have done and your specific skills of use to employers. If you have no freelance writing experience - don't panic - simply list what you have done including your last few jobs highlighting relevant facts e.g. did you write a web page, a pdf, or a document of some kind that was of value to the company.

Start uploading articles on your favourite subject areas if you have no published material. Some good FREE sites to do this are:

Ezine Articles - http://www.ezinearticles.com
GoArticles - http://www.goarticles.com
Searchwarp - http://www.searchwarp.com

(a seperate hub will give you a more complete list in July)

I write articles daily, as well as web site content, and newsletters. I am always able to find work, and have built a trusted client list from whom I receive constant requests for more quality content. You will acheive this too from knowing how to get freelance writing Jobs.

Its been repeated everywhere that content is king! The best opportunties for those whom wish to work from home in freelance writing jobs go to the writers whom understand this very well. This is because from content comes knowledge, and knowledge is power; here on this hub i list a number of sites where you will find freelance writing jobs requiring a varying level of skill and experience from total novice to experienced copywriters.

Did you know you can make money daily from blogging? I am not talking about affiliate marketing - I will cover that in another hub - I refer to actual jobs where you are paid to be a blogger!

Do you currently rely on bidding sites to find work? That can come to an end. Dont battle to be the lowest bidder when you can barter a better deal with employers whom will pay a decent salary.

One thing on my lists below, dont let your location become a barrier - these sites list telecommuting jobs and therefore your skills and experience will be placed above what planet you come from! Jobs in the UK, you live in the US - still apply unless it says otherwise; likewise for UK residents applying for US listed jobs.

WARNING - SCAM ALERT!

Here, each month, i will update this text box with scams out there claiming to bring real freelance jobs to your door though actually just charge a fee for information that you can find for FREE simply by using my list of sites right here.

There are only two directories of jobs i recommend buying, and that is HomeJobStop and Telework Recruiting as they are updated each month.

Others have wasted my money and left me feeling duped into believing the promises of yet another scam merchant's site.

ONE TIP: You can check reviews on the SEs by typing the name of the biz site followed by the word review, for example: Academia-Research.com review

LATEST WARNINGS

Academia-Research |Writer Jobs

This was in the FREE jobs section but i am finding evidence of a lack of credibility, and this is being investigated. I would appreciate any feedback from people whom have used them. Another called Ivory Research seems to be a much better choice for academic writers, i will be adding it when I have digested some research.

Legitmate Online Jobs - http://www.legitimateonlinejobs.com/virtual-call-center-jobs-employment.htm

Offers access to virtual call center jobs for a monthly fee. You can find these for free doing a google search. WhyDoWork.com lists a series of virtual call center jobs, and heres another good site:

Clicknearn - http://www.clicknearn.net/
I am interested to know if anyone has any experience of this site. My first impressions are not good, which is why its in my SCAM WARNINGS box. It states that a free account is...erhmmm....coming soon, yet the paid plans are in force quite easily.. I am currently investigating the site and will be furthering this task in tandem with ScamXposer; I have already informed you here about schemes that charge a fee to work for them, almost all of them are scams.

If you have a personal experience, leave a comment.

TOP JOB SEARCHING TIP

When searching for jobs on Google or Yahoo, try using within quotation marks -

1. "write for us" - as this will target sites where editors are requesting new writer applications. This will yield a fast list of good results and you can spend some time filtering to the ones that interest you.

2. "we pay $XXX per article" can bring up very targeted lists, replace XXX with 50, 100, or whatever rate you are seeking.

Do Not Quit!

From looking at these lists, you can see that there are many ways to work from home in freelance writing jobs for varying levels of experience and skill levels. The biggest piece of advice i can offer is simple: NEVER QUIT. Keep applying, network in blogs on the subject, and check daily.. You can only succeed.

A great list.

Freelance writing takes so many guises!

thank you, its a good list, and i have more to add. i have managed to maintain a steady income from these sites. its really a numbers game, and it helps if you can show that you write professionally and with accuracy. The pay varies, many low around $10 to $15 an article, also a wide variety in the $50 plus range. Though, when you consider these tend to be blogs and short articles of around 400 words, its clear how much you can churn out in a day.

I also recommend speculative applications to web sites asking if they need writers. SEO companies need writers to help draft copy for their clients - thats a good start.

You're welcome. The list has kept me in business for the last 2 years. Though, the research is the result of lots of ferret digging on the web over the last 4 or 5 years. I do have more to add, and another hub will target extra income sites as a focus.

I received a success story from an author whom i referred to Constant Content, seems he sold 8 articles in 24 hours at $35 each - not bad just for posting.

Heres the link to the site: http://www.constant-content.com/?aref=6933

You can find writing jobs at freelance sites. If you are a beginner you will face sevaral problems.

Yes, good advice. But experience and skills can make a real difference. If you are a beginner with skills in design, programming or you have a technology background, you can hit the higher rates very quickly. Beginners whom struggle tend to be those whom have 1. not defined their skillsets or 2. not published any articles yet.

You can add Articlewritingincome.com to you list of sites too. They will begin payouts as soon as traffic increases.

Hi Shirley. That is not for this hub as its a revenue sharing option and not a place to find work. There are lists of sites and many better than this one you mentioned. I do have a hub planned for that, examples are ehow, mylot, lifetips, also there are numerous 50/50 options - these all work using one method only, lots of relevant traffic.

Superb hub. I hated searching the net for this information as there's so much of it.

After reading through I decided to write about a topic I know really well, and have now created my own site.

Thanks Mr Crowley keep this great stuff coming.
