Losing weight is all about maintaining a balance between how much you eat and how much you burn in terms of calories. Current lifestyles are sedentary which rarely demands any heavy physical activity. Also, ready to eat food is easily available which keeps our calorie count high throughout the day. This excess calorie gets deposited as fat in our cells. Our body naturally accumulates excess calories as fat keeping it stored for leaner days.
Weight can be easily controlled by targeting two areas: diet and physical activity. Rather than going on a binge diet, a good diet plan would have a well balanced menu. Foodstuff is usually grouped into four categories:
1. Cereal (should be eaten the most)
2. Fruits and Vegetable (3-5 servings should be eaten daily)
3. Milk Products, meat, poultry, fish, nuts (eat moderately)
4. Fats, oils and sweets (eat sparingly)
A good diet would contain something from each food group. Each food group has its unique benefits and nutrients essential for the body.
Along with diet, physical activity is also essential in keeping a fit body. 20 minutes of a rigorous aerobic routine 5 days a week will help to keep you fit.
