This causes more acid to be produce in the stomach to help break down the foods and increases your chances of having of acid reflux. Due to this fact an acid reflux diet consist of several small meals a day to help lower the amount of acid that your stomach needs to produce. No matter how busy your day is you need to take time to eat better and help your stomach problems. You can have three good meals and three good snacks a day and this will help reduce the symptoms of acid reflux dramatically. However, you do need to make sure you eat well during these meals and snacks. For instance, you don't want to snack on corn chips or a chocolate candy bar too often.
You need to avoid high-fat meals such as the ones you buy from fast food restaurants. You should also avoid or limit alcohol beverages. Remain in an upright position for about an hour after eating and you can elevate your head when lying down at night. Acid reflux can be very uncomfortable and cause you a lot of pain. It can interfere with life in general by limiting your activities; it can interfere with your work and make life in general miserable. If left untreated, acid reflux can cause more damage to the esophagus and make swallowing uncomfortable and very painful.
