What is a weight loss plateau? And how do you stop them?
In case you have not heard about a weight loss plateau* let me explain to you what it is. A plateau is a period or phase in something when there is little increase or decrease. In other words, it’s when you are not losing any weight or gaining any weight. Although you are not gaining any weight which is good, you are not losing any weight either, and that can be hard on you emotionally, and motivational. When losing weight every pound you lose is a giant step forward, towards your goal weight. Every step forward is a huge incentive to push on to the next step. So not losing anything for any length of time can be very hard on you when you are trying so hard to lose weight.

There are little changes you can make to get you through that plateau stage.
You can start by not eating after 6:00pm.This is not going to be easy, but it is a very powerful start to any diet. When you eat late at night, your body does not have time to burn off the fat before you go to bed. That is when your body stores fat. And that is not what we want our body to do. So the best way to lose the fat when dieting, is to not eat anything after 6:00 pm, give your body plenty of time to burn the fat, before it gets stored.
Here is another change that really makes a big difference.
Eat at least 4- 6 smaller meals a day.
This keeps your metabolism burning fat, which is exactly what you want your body to do for you. And it keeps your energy level up throughout the day. Just remember smaller portions 4-6 times a day keep your body burning that unwanted fat.
Tests conducted on groups participating in this eating approach,often termed “grazing vs. gorging”, show that spreading caloric intake throughout the day instead of compressing it into two or three meals has positive effects on general health as well as on achieving and maintaining ideal weight.
Another thing you can do to stop those weight loss plateau's.
Is to cut up some fruits or vegetables.
Try cutting up some fruits and/or vegetables of your choice in the morning, then put them in a bowl and leave them in the refrigerator. Then if you need a snack you can take it out of the refrigerator and nibble on it instead of that bag of chips. If the fruit is as easy to grab as the chips, you will grab the fruit and because it is readily available you will eat it. It’s also great for the kids in your life. It is cold, tastes good, and it's healthy. All that, and guilt free!
Another one is drink plenty of water.
If you are trying to lose weight it is crucial that you drink 8-8oz glasses of water a day. But you still need to drink other nutritional drinks that have value.
Get up and MOVE!
You should start by walking around the block for about 15 or 20 minutes, longer if you are able to. You could walk to a friend’s house or take your dog for a walk, they love it. It’s easy, and it’s a big part of losing weight. You must move in order to burn fat and lose weight.
Taking all the small changes and making it count.
Eat dinner before 6:00pm. (1) Take a walk after dinner and burn some fat, (2) take your water with you, (3) by doing this you will be taking some time out of the evening before going to bed, so you don’t eat after 6:00 pm.
Stop the weight loss plateaus with these little changes.
The impact small changes make on your fat burning weight loss plan, will amaze you. Little changes will inspire you to do a little more, or push a little harder to achieve your goal!!
