56While we all know that teenagers are sexual beings, have sexual feelings, and often have sex with each other, it is our job as adults to protect them from their sexual urges, because:
- their self-control is not yet fully developed
- they are not developmentally ready to think in terms of long-term consequences of their actions
So, we should be helping children not to have premarital sex and we should be helping them not to use pornography.
That having been said, we have to also say that MANY teens portrayed in child pornography ARE LURED, TRICKED, COAXED, BLACKMAILED or FORCED.
But even the teens who willingly appear in pornographic materials do NOT developmentally possess the JUDGEMENT, REASON and EXPERIENCE to understand the consequences of their actions. THEY DESERVE TO BE PROTECTED.

That's a great question!
It's a question of helping ADULTS in our society to understand that WE MUST NOT TOLERATE child pornography. Many people think it' okay for someone in their houseold to use pornography that depicts older minors. We need to help the ADULTS to understand that this is exploitaton. When my husband was using child pornography, and I went to his family to ask them to help me to get them into treatment, one of his sister's said, "But he told us that the girls in the pictures were teenagers, and teens have sex all the time don't they? Don't they have a RIGHT to choose to be in pornography?"
So the end result of their thinking was that his family did next to nothing to help me get help for my husband. And it' people who purchase and trade this stuff that keeps it out there.
I think we also need to EDUCATE our children(once they are old enough to reason) on the danger signals and all the tell-tale signs that can lead to child pornography...kids are smart these days,they'll get the message.

I agree, but how do you protect someone from him/herself? Even adults make bad judgment calls. Yes, it's easier to manipulate the young, but other than keeping them locked up and denying them all contact with human life, how can we possibly control them?
