Ammu started her career as TV Anchor in SUN TV. Her entry into filmdom was by chance. Her nice behaviour and fluency in Tamil has perhaps brought more fans for her anchoring. She got lot of offers for small and large screen. She was selective in choosing her roles and she was comfortable with TV Anchor.

She first acted in movie "Majnu" opposite Prashanth. But she got break in Venkat Prabhu's movie "Saroja" opposite SP Charan's wife charecter.

She is now acting in the movie "Mariyadhai" with senior artists like Captain Vijaykanth, Ambika and Meena and the movie is the same team of Saroja, Amma Creations.

She also acted in the movie Anandha Thandavam which is the novel of writer Sujatha's Pirivom Sandhipom published in Anandha Vikatan for years and the movie is simultaneously releasing in Tamil and Telugu in the first week of April.

This movie is directed by Gandhi Krishna.
