Seven Superfoods
By superfoods, we mean foods that pack more than your average goodness per portion. Including these in your diet daily can help improve your health. These superfoods have have health benefits far beyond other foods due to their high phytonutrient content.
1. Eggs
Some ancient cultures regarded the egg so highly they used its shape as a fertility symbol. It's still an important source of protein and various vitamins and minerals. Among these is choline, a component of lecithin which is usually classed among the B-vitamins and is important for the metabolism of fat and the maintenance of the signal pathways between brain and the rest of the body. Still another is selenium, which helps fight heart disease. You can consume as much egg white as you want, but go easy on the yolks.
2. Fish
Specifically, fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids like sardines, mackerel, and salmon. Omega-3 oils have been shown to help boost the immune system and cardiovascular function as well as improve memory and mood. Because it lowers insulin levels, it also plays a role in weight management and the prevention of diabetes. Omega-3 isn't exclusive to our finny friends; it can also be found in plants like walnuts, spirulina, wheat germ, and flaxseeds. Fish like salmon are also a good source of iron, being low in calories and rich in protein.
3. Milk
Low-fat milk and other dairy products are a good source of calcium, important for growing kids and for the prevention of osteoporosis. Dairy products contain virtually all the nutrients you need in your diet. Milk also contains casein, which helps control hunger by making you feel full longer. It can also help you get a good night's sleep.
4. Broccoli
This dark-green vegetable is available year-round. It's a good source of fiber, which can help you control your eating, and also contains vitamins A, C, and K. Also a good source of beta carotene, broccoli is versatile and can be prepared and eaten in a number of ways.
5. Blueberries
All berries contain anthocyanins which keep your skin healthy, but their goodness is more than skin-deep. Blueberries are widely available and have the greatest amount of antioxidants of any food. Antioxidants help fight several diseases, including cancer. Berries also contain fiber and many nutrients and help control hunger by affecting blood sugar levels.
6. Sweet Potatoes
The sweet potato is rich in vitamin A and C and is also a good source of calcium and potassium. Potassium helps reduce blood pressure by counteracting sodium and helps retard bone loss.
7. Green Tea
Studies suggest that the flavonoids in green tea can help promote metabolism, which is a boon to those seeking to lose weight. The antioxidants and catechin polyphenols it contains also help fight heart disease.

Superfoods Under Scrutiny
Over recent years, some have claimed their foods to be a superfood when in fact they are not. Red meat, turkey and some fish have been marketed as superfoods when clearly their is NO scientific proof to back this up.
The term "superfoods" is not just a marketing ploy, but a recognised high performance food. Since July 2007, companies in the EU are not allowed to claim their foods as being "superfoods" unless they can back up their claims with scientific research.

Brazillian Berry Killed the Cancer!
There is hope for cancer sufferers, but results are still preliminary. Don't take my word for it, and I'm not here to give you false hope, BUT a Brazlian Berry did kill human cancer cells in a controlled environment conducted for the first time in January of 2006.
The study was performed by the University of Florida, and found that Acai Berries contained an unusually high content of antioxidant.
