Before the release of Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Nintendo came out and stated their may be issues with the game. The new dual-layer disc technology the game utilizes may not play on some Wii systems. They were careful to point out that the game is not the problem but the system is where the true problem lies.

So, what's wrong with the Nintendo Wii that it cannot handle Super Smash Brothers Brawl? First and foremost, it is important to note that the system is not defective. The lens that reads the game, over time, gets dirty from dust, grime and other airborne particles that land on it. Over time, the dirtier it gets, the harder it is for it to read single-layer and especially dual-layer discs. You may have experienced this on other gaming consoles, such as the Xbox or Playstation 2.

If your Wii does not read or stops reading the Super Smash Brothers Brawl game, Nintendo has set-up a rapid cleaning process for the system. All you have to do is call Nintendo customer service, they will provide you with shipper labels and you send your system to their closest service center. They have guaranteed a one week turn around time, and they were clean and ship back your system so that it will work with the game.

While you can run your own lens cleaner, Nintendo recommends against this. Since lens cleaners, depending on what solution is used, can cause more damage than good. If you do attempt to clean the system yourself and fail, damaging the lens in any way, this will void your warranty and Nintendo will not fix or replace your system. Do not take the chance on damaging your system, send it into Nintendo and get it cleaned as it was meant to be cleaned.

If this still does not fix the problem, they have set-up a way to exchange the system under warranty to get you a system that will work with the game. If you are experiencing problems with your copy of Super Smash Brothers Brawl, contact Nintendo either at support.nintendo.com or (800) 255 - 3700.
