Earn money in your...

Recently I’ve been reading a lot of popular financial literature written by the authors with well-known names, outspoken businessmen and entrepreneurs. Just so I could understand how everything suppose to work. I was shielded very firmly from that kind of knowledge in my country and being a person who came to Canada with  5 bucks in my pocket, naturally, I am very curious.

Some of these books are purely inspirational, some quite revealing, some just a compilation of common b*s* not even entertaining or useful. If you buy such a book, it will be just for no other purpose but to fill in your book shelves, so you can look educated. Some others are just unrealistic junk, author probably is wondering himself: why the heck did I bothered to write this book?

While reading these books I realized how basically easy is to write a bestseller. First you need a theme. People used to write about climbing a corporate ladder, best jobs, finding best jobs, keeping them. Those type of books used to be very popular. Not anymore.

Who is interested in finding the best job nowadays when every business is under strain and suffers from recession, repression, regression, globalizing, restructurizing (sorry, I have not the foggiest idea what these words mean, though I see them everywhere and they look so clever when put on paper)?

Nowadays entrepreneurship (hope I spelled it right) and money ideas are in fashion. Eliminate a middleman (re: your boss) and do it yourself (be self-employed), make money just with your brilliant ideas at your kitchen table.

Now you have your plot, read some popular literature written by well-known gurus of the past and present and snatch plenty of catchy phrases and place them strategically through your book. For example: "You'll get what you want if you help enough people to get what they want", something like that. I keep finding this phrase with slight variations in every other popular book I read.

Or: “Buy more - save more”. Oh, no it is outdated, nowadays it is just “save”, nothing else, no buying, sorry. When you collected enough clever and almost original phrases, you can start rewriting some old material from public domain library. You do not have to rewrite a lot just add some contemporary names and events, like Obama, Bill Clinton, terrorism, 7/11, no sorry September 11, so people would think, that you are a genius and work hard on your topic, sitting at your table day and night in your underwear without a dinner.

Basically the theme itself is not important. The most crucial thing is your cover and the title. Nowadays purple is in fashion. So make it purple with gold or silver lettering on it. Some gold and silver coins depicted on it, preferably antique ones would be nice too. And clever and catchy title is paramount.

Do not, please, do not forget that keywords like money, millions, easy income, should be incorporated into your title. Like for example: "Money for Life". Or: “Millions in your sleep”, “Automatic Millionaire”. Nice? I am sure you can think of something even better.

Recently I read a book with a catchy title “We want to make you rich” by two well known and rich celebrities, who most probably never even wrote this book, just put their celebrity names on the cover. May be not, may be they were sitting writing this book day and night in their pj's without a dinner.

Well it’s easy to get something like a loan when everybody knows you and you have almost limitless credit in any bank, just whistle. And if I call the bank and start whistling some money from them, they would send me where? … Right, I do not even want to go there and neither do you. Word money has certainly a magical touch. Even if there is no money and possibilities of earning any serious money are slim to nothing, as soon as some wizards with a magical wand say it: “easy money”, “get rich in 30 days” or something similar, people would run after them and handle them their last pennies without even investigating first, completely hypnotized by magic words.

My point is: people who have hardly enough for food and shelter, they are not going to buy stocks and bonds or acquire run down houses to flip them over and earn money. Reserve, please, your good advice for the rich people, who have money and credit to play with. Silly books with hot titles are dangerous because they give people false hopes and separate some people from their hard earned money.

No, naïve reader of those books, you are not going to become a millionaire by reading those  elaborate compilations of a creative mind, – the authors probably are or will be.

So, what are you waiting for? Write a book yourself. Content is not important, just lots of promises in the title and $ signs everywhere, nice glossy cover, and voila, - people will buy it, I am sure, like hot cakes.

It will become a bestseller and make you tons of money. Na-ah, just kidding.
