My Life in a Box - Family Survival
61Where are my documents?
In case of a fire or natural disaster, could you leave your home in 5 minutes with everything you need to rebuild your life? Are your personal, legal and financial documents in one place, so that you can grab them and run?
After losing 12 family members and close friends, I began to realize that I did not have the tools to deal with all of the challenges my family and I were facing. I kept notes, wrote in a journal and then realized that a list was forming! Where were my family member's legal documents? Did they have end-of-life wishes...and if they did, where were those documents?
After 911 and Hurricane Katrina, I realized that the people in the middle of those disasters were facing the same issues I was facing. They needed to provide who they were and what they owned. They needed their documents!
How do you save valuable photos, artwork, family memories?
What do my children need to have with them if we need to leave our home quickly?
You have to plan ahead and find a simple way to take your life with you as you leave your home.
