sweet cookie movie critic: Eagle Eye
51I saw Eagle Eye Wednesday night on a sneak preview which was really good and delivered what you were promised in the trailers. The movie is about two strangers that are pushed to do things they don't want to be cause they are in fear of their lives.
Shia LaBeouf (Transformers, Disturbia) plays Jerry Shaw, a guy in hes early to mid 20s that is low on his luck and trying to make his own way. LaBeouf is good as the guy chosen as a pawn in this thriller. He does have some of his smart alick wit that appears in some most of his roles but he also has a more mature aire about him in this role. The 22 year old works well in this transition into an older more adult actor. This weekend will tell who how he did.
Michelle Monaghan (MI:3, Made of Honor) plays Rachel Holloman, a mom who is recruited to be Jerry's partner so that her child will be safe. Her portrayal is good as the scared sexy mother doing what it takes. This will probably be her breakthrough role to get her into more lead roles.
The action in the fill is continuous and fluid through out the film. There is very little down time and you are on the edge till the climatic scene culminates. The plot is also is not secondary to all the actions because every move that is made is conducted because of the storyline. There are so many twists and turns that you will be on your toes for a good part of the film.
I suggest that when you go you get a lot of snacks and possibly get (or sneak in) lots of popcorn because you will be shoveling it in from the excitement.
