Tamron 18 270 Specs

First off, let me begin by saying that the AF 18 270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro lens without a doubt accomplishes an another impressive optical engineering feat, and Tamron should be recognized for producing a super zoom lens that posesses a much longer telephoto distance than any of its lens-for-lens competitors without sacrificing any of its image quality. The pictures you are able to take using this lens are incredible crisp with detail. It allows the playing field between novices and well seasoned professional photographers. Though this does not imply that the lens is perfect, this lens still has most of the same optical problems as the other superzoom lenses that were tested. Shooting from a wideangle it still shows some chromatic aberration and the usual amount of barrel distortion (our testing sample also exhibited a distinctly soft corner at some of the wider angles). The middle of the zoom range the lens is incredibly sharp and any chromatic aberration is virtually non-existent, but tends to suffer from pretty high levels of pincushion distortion. And towards the telephoto end, the lens is partially soft and has somewhat high levels of chromatic aberration, especially at the 270mm range (though this distortion is very low). But in summation Tamron has managed to thread a commendably fine needle in balancing the various aberrations without letting any of them become too extreme.
