Tattoo Removal
61Getting a tattoo can be a right of passage for many young adults. It often signifies the coming of age. A milestone to remember the transition from being a teenager to being an adult.
Regardless of the reason that an individual might get a tattoo, often times they regret it later in life. Many might find it difficult to land a great job if they are covered in visible tattoos. Countless people get tattoos of their significant others name as a gesture of their undying love. Unfortunately, the tattoos don't go away when the relationship ends. Some people make poor decisions early in life and choose to join a gang. If these individuals are fortunate enough to ever get out of the gang, it's a good idea to have the gang tattoos removed.
Getting a tattoo is fairly easy, getting rid of one, not so easy. The common methods of tattoo removal are laser removal, light therapy, dermabrasion, and self applied creams.
Tattoo Removal by laser therapy is very painful and not always very effective. It's common for the removal process to leave behind unsightly scarring. This procedure involves a doctor bombarding your skin with very concentrated bursts of laser light. The laser breaks up the ink so it can be naturally absorbed into your body. The process often requires several treatments. Not only is this a painful procedure, it can also be very expensive.
Another method of tattoo removal is with light therapy. This process involves a very strong light being applied in pulses to the tattoo. Although patients report good results with this method, it is much more expensive than the traditional laser removal process. If you opt for this procedure, you will be billed for each individual pulse. I have read that this might cost as much $10 a pulse!
Dermabrasion is basically like rubbing sandpaper on the tattooed skin. It would seem likely that this would lead to significant scarring not to mention it sounds quite painful. In extreme cases, people have actually had their tattoos cut away. The tattooed skin is cut away and the remaining skin is sutured together.
Finally, there are over-the-counter creams that can be applied to the tattoo. The jury is really still out on using tattoo cream for tattoo removal. Of course there are countless testimonials describing how well this method works. Unfortunately, there are just as many claiming that tattoo removal cream doesn't work.
Regardless of what method a person chooses to remove a tattoo, it's going to be expensive and most likely painful. I'm certainly not against tattooing. I would, however suggest that those who choose to have themselves tattooed, put some serious thought into whether or not the decision will cause them problems in the future.
Personally I think that the high tattoo removal prices warrant looking into tattoo removal cream.
Tattoo Removal Cost
The cost of getting a tattoo removed can be staggering. Some tattoos can end up costing $10,000 or more to have removed.
The cost will depend on a few factors:
- How large is the tattoo?
- How much ink is in the tattoo?
- What color is the ink?
- Where is the tattoo removal is being done?
- How many sessions will be needed to complete the removal process?
These are a few factors in determining the cost. Before you begin any tattoo removal therapy be sure and thoroughly discuss the costs with the person who will be doing the work

I would love to hear from you if you have had a tattoo removed.
What might be appealing on youthful skin won't look quite as nice on wrinkled older and sagging skin. Something else to consider!
My husband got a tattoo in his wild youthful days and now regrets it. He has already had a few laser treatments, but hasn't managed to completely remove it yet. He said the laser treatments are much more painful than getting the tattoo was. Something to think about folks!
