teacup notes

My search for a tiny pocket sized chihuahua uncovered a whole world of deception.Almost every chihuahua breeder out there claims to have teacups for sale. In reality genuine teacups are very rare. The prospective buyer has a lot of homework to do before selecting his new "best friend". A teacup or Micro chihuahua as their sometimes referred are actually runts of the litter and sometimes have health issues.

First step is to find a chihuahua weight chart online. Study it carefully so you are educated on what your perspective dog should weigh at a certain age. Generally speaking he should not be 1lb until he is 12 weeks old. Ask to see photos of the parents. Obviously if they are 5 or 6 pounds the odds are in favor of their pups growing to that size as well.

True teacups often have hypoglycemia and soft spots in their heads that can cause blindness and can sometimes prove fatal.. They cant stand extreme weather, either too hot or too cold. Housebreaking can be difficult because their bladders are so small. Teacups are not a good mix with young children because a well meaning hug can actually break fragile bones.

There are two types, apple heads and deer heads, Generally speaking a deer head is much bigger in size and not as popular as the highly sought after apple head. They come in many colors too the most desired colors are chocolate and blue.

It is a myth that Chihuahuas are barkers and have mean attitudes. Most of them are sweet and love to be carried around and pampered. Dressing them up in can be a blast and some chihuahuas have bigger wardrobes than their owners!
