The temples in Thailand as known as "Wats". There are about 400 WATS around Thailand and are quite revered by the Thai people. While visiting a mosque or Wat in Thailand, be particular about removing your shoes and wearing clothes that cover you well. The most revered Wat in Thailand is that of the Wat Phra Kaeo or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. This temple is a true reflection of the rich art, culture and architecture of Thailand and was consecrated in 1782 as a part of the Grand Palace Complex.

The Temple of Dawn or Wat Arun is also a great place to visit in Thailand. This temple is a sight to behold at night when the spotlights shine over its porcelain and ceramics decorated architecture.

If you like believing in folklore, then you must visit the well known Wat Phrathat temple that is about 10 miles from Chiang Mai province. According to the folklore, King Ku Na was instructed in a divine dream to place the holy relics on the back of an elephant and erect a temple where the elephant stops and trumpets times. As a result the temple was constructed on this mountain's summit. There are 290 steps to this temple.

Die-hard shoppers can shop to their heart's content in the Floating Market at Thonburi. Apart from being a tourist-shopping destination, this place is a major entertainment center in Thailand. One needs to hire boats to see and enjoy this market. You can buy goods from the boats too.

People who like to know the past can also visit Thailand's museums as well. The National Museum at the Na Phra That Road is a great place to understand Thai culture and history. You can also go to the Pasteur Institute (snake farm). Here you can see snake being milked for their venom every day after paying the entrance fee.
