Your WHY Had Better Be Bigger Than Obstacles

Much attention has been given to the age old problem in

Network Marketing or MLM of attrition. However, the

issue still remains a major source of frustration and anxiety

for the majority of network marketing newbies and

seasoned pros alike.

The obvious reason for quitting is a lack of success. The

solution? Make sure that the people you sponsor experience

success at a very early stage. "R-i-i-i-i-i-ght," you say, "easier

said than done." That's true.

'WHY' THEY'RE QUITTING MAY BE THE WRONG QUESTION...

Maybe we're asking the wrong questions. Maybe we are not

looking in the right place for the answers. Maybe the question

should be, "why am I in this business anyway." Why network

marketing? Why a home-based business?

You may have heard personal development coaches say that

you must have a purpose, an overriding life purpose that

drives your actions and goals. I thought I understood this

until one day I heard someone say, "If you're 'WHY' is big

enough, the hows will take care of themselves." That was it

for me. The light came on.

Now I understand. While it's good to have purpose in your life,

that purpose may or may not be BIG enough to see you through

to success in internet network marketing or MLM. You see, it's

one thing to sit down and think of things to write on a piece

of paper. It's quite another thing to know without a shadow

of a doubt why you are doing what you are doing. If I woke

you suddenly from a deep sleep at 3 o'clock in the morning

and shouted, "Why are you doing this home-based/internet

business", you should be able to immediately shout back to

me exactly why you are doing it. No hesitation.

CHOOSE YOUR 'WHY' CAREFULLY

Give serious and careful consideration to your 'why'. It must

be so compelling that failure is simply not an option. In any

business, not just MLM or network marketing, you will

inevitably run into obstacles. Some big, some small and some

in between. Any obstacle that is bigger than your 'why' will

knock you out of business and your dreams. You'll simply quit.

MONEY IS RARELY A BIG ENOUGH WHY

Some have made the mistake of making money their why. BIG

mistake! Think about it. No one really wants money. They

want what money can buy. Money in and of itself is useless.

It's only when you trade money for something of value that it

becomes useful. So if you thought a million dollars is a big

enough why, think again.

IS YOUR WHY BIG ENOUGH?

Here are some 'whys' or life purpose goals that have

motivated many to success:

1) Freedom from a job they hate

2) Time freedom to spend with family or loved ones

3) To provide an education for kids

4) To never be under the thumb of an oppressive boss or

company AGAIN!

5) To never again have to think about affordability when you

or your loved ones are in desperate need of a vacation

In closing, the most important point to remember is that

your why must be bigger than any obstacle you may

encounter. Before going any further in your business make

sure you know why your success in network marketing

is not a matter of if but when because failure is not an option.

Yes, I agree your WHY is very important but EVERYONE has a reason WHY! Most people don't know HOW to do it! That's why giving team memebers a marketing SYSTEM for their business is so important. Leads are the lifeblood of success in MLM. Everyone in MLM wants to know HOW how to attract leads and prospects to you, your products and business opportunity.A combination of a powerful WHY (motivation) and a tried and tested HOW(implementation) leads to success!

You get it Tania. Thank you for your input. You kind of reiterated my point: We can give them the best systems, tools and motivation but if the reason they are doing all of this is not bigger than, say, ridicule from an unsupportive spouse or their romantic interest suddenly dumps them, we could lose them and we wonder why such a promising prospect has become inactive. This 'why' should be uncovered by us as their sponsor so that we can keep it in the front of their mind constantly.

Nice hub Reggie. Our why is extremely important for the reasons you outline. I agree with you that money is not a strong enough motivator. Our why needs to evolve; to gain clarity. At some point our why or our purpose becomes bigger than ourself. For me going back to work when my son was 9 months old while every fiber in my being was screaming no was the beginning. It has evolved into a passion to bring other Moms home from work should that be their desire. I strongly believe that we are going to pay a heavy price for the lack of parental supervision. We think that if we can manage to stay home until our kids are in school then its okay to go back to work. My experience is teenagers need you more not less.

I agree also with Tania. For me it was the how that was missing. I knew there had to be a better way. I will be forever grateful for having Ann Sieg and Mike Klingler come into my life and providing a system that works. The two are inseparable.

Thank you for sharing your hub. I also agree with Tania and The Rengade coach that knowing why is importmant in network marketing, but most network marketers are having sleepless nights trying to figure out how to get prospects to join their team.

I thank the Renegade System for coming to my rescue, I would not have known how to, until I read The Renegade Network Marketer. We have so much to learn as network marketers, I am proud of this industry, and you too Regtroye.

And I you, Anthony. I'd like to share a quote with you that really stopped me dead in my tracks(so to speak) at a time in my life when I was almost ready to chalk it all up to experience and put my tail between my legs and get a J. O. B. (J ust O ver B roke)
