Homemade Basic Dog Food Recipe
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup of oats
- 4 cups of uncooked rice
- 9 cups of water
- 1 teaspoon salt
Mix all the above ingredients and bring to boil. Add the following when boiling:
- 2 beaten eggs
- 2 cups finely chopped vegetables (could be broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, etc.)
- ½ cup milk (2%)
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley
- 8 ounces ground chicken, beef or lamb
- 3 ounces finely chopped liver
- 3 tablespoons corn oil
Mix and lower the heat to low. Let cook for about 20 minutes or till the water is absorbed. Once cooked, spread out the dog food in a container. If you will serve to your dog, add yogurt or cottage cheese plus a teaspoon of supplement mix (1 cup wheat germ, 1 cup brewer’s yeast and 1/8 cup of powdered kelp).
With this recipe you can add or substitute other ingredients. It is important to remember that you should keep your ingredients in the right proportions. A well-balanced dog diet is one with 30% veggies, 30% starch and 40% meat. It is also important to know about good dog food nutrition when making homemade dog food.
