The Most Common Eating Disorders Health issues

People that suffer from eating disorders can have some severe health issues if they are not treat it on time. There are many teenagers and adolescents with anorexia, binge and bulimia which are usually the cause of an emotional problem or psychological issue.

There are 2 kinds of health issues that any person with eating disorders can have: mental health problems and physical problems.

The mental problems are usually the cause of the disorder, they might have some problems with their family, with a personal relationship or with friends. What this causes is that the person acquires a wrong self image of herself, she might have a low self esteem, she may have been criticized for her body by people at school, thus it creates a negative self image.

The result is that the adolescent gets depressed and use anorexia or bulimia to get the body that people like or approve and it becomes an obsession.

However, there are also serious physical health issues that need to be addressed. If the person is treat it and recovers before the disorder gets severe then there should be no major health problems, but if the adolescent hides her problem and dont want to seek help, it can get to the point that her body would be seriously damage and she could have long term health problems.

Some of the known physical issues are low blood pressure, hearth attacks, loss of mass muscles, weak bones, loss of teeth, loss of hair, damage to the intestine, problems to digest food and many others that any young person should not experience.

The most serious problem is that many of those physical problems will stay for a long time even after recovery, the adolescent will not be able to have a normal life like it was before, because her body is weak and does not have enough defenses, remember that the help of a psychotherapist and a doctor is needed to recover from this issue.
