the new regime
53Ok so I've been trying to be really healthy and as fit as i can be for over 3 years now, but i recently discovered the thing that most of us don't even realise is killing us. Things that we all have in our homes and use daily could seriously be damaging our health and well being!
I started investigating natural remedies when i decided it was time to do something about the fact that i am always tired. I eat an extremely good and varied diet, full of fresh vegetables and fruits and loaded with lean protein, i exercise almost daily so i was struggling to come to terms with my lack of energy. I wondered if perhaps i was doing too much exercise, but i don't overdo it, i never ache after a session and i research and check with professionals so surely that wasn't it. I looked at my diet and aside from depriving myself of treats altogether i don't see how i could do better, then i found out that chemicals in products we use to improve health, appearance and wellbeing could be the cause.
Chemicals and toxins found in household cleaners, cosmeticsand on our food, have been linked in recent studies to chronic fatigue syndrome. This is a fact i find quite scary and while i don't for a second think i'm suffering with CFS, i do think that i could feel better, so over the next few months i am conducting a personal experiment. I will be converting to only organic food as far as possible as well as removing all harmful cleaning products and making my own instead and also going chemical free with my cosmetics including make-up, hair products and cleansers and moisturisers. I'm thinking/hoping that this will help to increase my energy levels and improve my little acne outbreaks that i suffer from time to time and i may even shape up a bit more. Particular things to look out for are any products you have containing sodium lauryl/laureth... or any form or the word paraben in the ingredients of anything, these chemicals have been linked to cancer but it hasnt been largely circulated in the press etc because of regulations and so called inconclusive results, which only means that these chemicals are far too widely used to get an accurate reading but tests done on mice in labs have concluded that in particular the risk of breast cancer increases when exposed to these toxins. Also lanolin, limonene and linalool have been linked to skin conditions like rashes and worse. My new rule is basically anything that isnt natural doesnt contaminate my body. The way to look at it is that if you wouldnt willingly eat something then why would you spread it on your skin??
So for anyone who is health conscious and always on the look out for new developments in health and personal care, keep a check on my page and i'll keep you updated on my progress. Thanx for reading xx
