The Walls are Caving In
49Not so long ago the human race began in-depth analysis of the psyche. With this revolutionary escapade came several revelations that have since been adopted into the daily patterns of our lives. Relatively fitting examples are the problems that are regarded as internal or better mental malfunctions. We are grateful for this intervention because in the latter days every psychological or neurological defect was pronounced insanity ergo mental asylums were up to their heads in so-called "sickos". Another even more pre-historic theory was the misguided connotation that magical accomplices had inhabited the body and taken the host prisoner. More and more ludicrous theories were unveiled but the constructive appreciation for human faux pas has us at the stage that we are glad to be in as of now. Though there is still much to discover about other disorders there is still need to applaud the prior developments. Anxiety, a common human trait is no different from the other mental upsets but has striking and significant effects that cause us to question the uncanny ailment.
How do I know if I am afflicted with anxiety disorders? Naturally, one expects to see the red lights flashing or sirens instantly sounding when they are prey to this abnormality, indeed there are a few key signs to look out for. Experts have proven that anxiety is a gradually developing disease that can start from as early as childhood. Emotions are the pawns on the anxiety chess board and are the way in which one can monitor their status quo. In this respect if professional help is sought a medical examination is mandatory as well as a questionnaire that will ask the relevant questions. Genetics is also a way in which the occurrence of the disorder can be tracked; maybe the family has a history of such cases. Excessive perspiration, headaches, repeated pulsations and chronic inability to sleep are common symptoms. Clinical depression patients are also bound to suffer from anxiety, with rare exceptions.
When guns are ablaze! Bouts of immense and elapsed terror cause the sweat pours to dilate and release excessive amounts of sweat, trembling, disorientation from the real world and a sense of panic are all witnessed during an anxiety attack. Once disorientation is experienced paranoia begins to set in; the worst case scenario overtakes the human mind. It all comes in subsequent stages. As a result normal tasks are not easy to carry out and insomnia haunts the nights of patients. They also tend to have jittery nerves and an overall lack of ease. Anxiety attacks are like a dark curtain that envelope all the rational aspects of our minds and leave an ignorant individual reaching out for the light switch. Attacks vary with each type, the common types of anxiety disorders are: the general anxiety disorder, panic disorder, agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder and exposure anxiety.
Rehabilitation A vast number of therapeutic antics have been made available. The extent of affliction varies and this is the cause for different levels and types of cures. There is the non-medicinal approach that deals with a variation in lifestyle and behavior. This has proven to be vital in some people's lives and has helped tame the anxiety ogre. Others however, are more composite and require pharmaceutical remedies. Common anti-depressants that are prescribed include benzodiazepines and quetiapine. The alternative medicine sector also has some natural herbaceous remedies that include lavandula and passion flower that soothe the body and lull it to slumber. Behavioral therapists are sometimes seen in conjunction to use of prescribed medicine or unconventional medicine. It is up to the patient to select their desired approach to rehabilitation.
It would be fair to say that through research we are becoming more and more akin to our flaws. This is instrumental in us developing strong bonds with one another, our level of tolerance and acceptance of non-conventional illnesses is opening a gateway to even greater and more imperative windows. We may fear what we do not understand but at least we are willing to risk the unknown in order to secure a better understanding and knowledge.
