Vampires

For some odd reason I've had this obsession with vampire lore for the past several years. I love reading about true lore about the mythologicalcreatures, but I, also, enjoy reading vampire entertainment style books. You know kind of like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles'.

But, a few months ago, I found this wonderful little book that I had heard of when it first published a few years ago. I had just finished reading Cesar Milan's "Cesar's Way: The Natural Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems," so I was looking for something new to read while browsing Target's selection.

I found The Historian on sale. I quickly grabbed the book, as I had remembered the publicity that it received when it premiered.

I really enjoyed this novel. Not only was it a "good" vampire tale, but it really stirred up my memories of living in Europe and reawakened my travel bug.

I just finished the book. Wew! it was good. My daughter said it was a-must-read book. I don't usually like vampire stories but once I got started I really liked it.

Great HUB

Stacie: I agree that it was a great novel. Where did you live in Europe?

Marmalade: Thank You

Zsuzsy: I definately find this book as a must read! Whenever I remember I need to hand it off to my boyfriend who loves vampire stories, but is quite biased to Nancy Collins' Sonya Blue stories. He got me addicted to her vampire stories... (blushes)

I've read THE HISTORIAN and enjoyed it. I read the original vampire story by the master, Bram Stoker,  but got burned out on them after visiting Anne Rice for so long.  I did pick up a book, DEAD IN DIXIE by an Arkansas writer Charlaine Harris, but haven't had a chance to devour it yet.

I have not read The Historian, but I loved Bram Stoker's classic, Dracula, so I may need to put The Historian on my reading list.

I read stoker's classic and all the other related stories I could find when I was 13 - 16 years old. Intriguing and fascinating. Finally read Varney the Vampire and Dracula's guest recently. Some of thee real people on whom some tales were based had medical conditions apparently. Others I would not want to meet in a dark alley, at least. Historian sounds interesting as well.

Bela Lugosi was my favorite person when I was 13. I later read about his black-listing form Hollywood in the McCarthy witch hunts. I read how he got up before a crowd to speak about it and became so passionate that he lapsed into his native Hungarian and the english-speaking crwod understood the emotions and the injustice. He was very handsome in his 20s, too.
