There are two BIBLES – Which one is RIGHT?

The New and Old Testaments are in conflict on most things; love and hate, war, killing, neighbors and what God demands.

Trying to worship both is like trying to love the rightwing Republicans and the liberal Democrats, impossible.

The very nature of God is different in these two Bibles. Let’s take a look and see what each God has to say and you make the call.

God of the Old Testament:

  • Death for adultery – Leviticus 20:10
  • Death for blasphemy – Leviticus 42:16
  • Death for captives – Deuteronomy 20:13
  • Death for the stubborn and rebellious Child – Deuteronomy 21:21
  • Bastards will not be allowed to worship in the temple – Deuteronomy 23:2
  • Disobedience will be punished by God with madness, blindness, you wife will be given to another man – Deuteronomy 28:28
  • An eye for an eye, a life for a life – Deuteronomy 19:21

The entire Book of Joshua is about war and killing. All who are conquered are to be killed by order of God.

  • Death to captives – Joshua 11:8-11

There will be more examples in my second installment of this angry and vicious God of death and killing. This is not the God of Jesus Christ.

God of the New Testament of Jesus Christ:

  • Love your neighbor as you love yourself – Matt 22:39
  • Do unto others as you would have them do unto you – Matt 7:12
  • Love your enemies – Matt 5:43-48
  • Do good to those who hate you – Matt 5:43-48
  • Forgive and you will be forgiven – Matt 6:9-13
  • Only God can judge – Matt 7:1
  • Rebuke those who sin, don’t kill them – Matt 18:15-17

All Christians are called to follow the God of Jesus and we can’t allow ourselves to be distracted by the God of Moses, who preaches against everything Jesus teaches.

It is time to chose the God of Jesus and leave the old God of Moses behind to his bloodthirsty non-sense and Un-Christian laws.

They are not two bibles, they are two Covenants.

One is gone OT and one still exists a better one NT

For more info have a read here, very straight forward ..... http://hubpages.com/hub/The-Two-Covenants

Okay but a covenant is an agreement between two or more people, or between God and those who follow that God.

I find it impossible to reconcile these two Gods.

I don’t think you can follow the God of Moses and the God of Jesus – they lead in different directions.

I read your hub and it provides no reconciliation of these two very different Gods. If we are Christians we must follow the instructions of Christ. I think a major problem for many Christians is the church tries to use both sets of values and they can’t be reconciled.

But I am like many – still searching for the truth. So far my truth comes from JC.

Thanks for your comment – I enjoyed you hub

They are the same God, just man tries to make himself righteous in the Old Covenant, by works and obedience to please God, not that God wanted it that way, but the Israelites wanted it that way, and they could not do the Laws.

So God made it possible in creating a new covenant

So let me see if I can get this right. All the killing and death approved by Moses is the work of man and not God?

The rules about who gets to worship in the Temple are mans rules and not Gods?

Okay I like that better - but it took the death of Jesus on the cross to set these right. Why pay any attention to the OT now that we have the NT of JC?

I hear ya! Though I often say there are two books written in that bible (of course literally there are many), most say the OT and NT...

Me, I say no. It's the book of good and bad or, the tree of life.

Thanks for the comment.

I like it!

The OT= bad and the NT of JC = good. I know this is an over simplification, but I like it.

Thanks too for all the valuable info on your profile for hub users.

Have a great day..
