There was a Documentary on T.V recently which starred my home town, "Britains Toughest Towns" was about towns all over the uk where drug use is rife,violence is an everyday occurence,and the crime rates are high. what a great advertisment for tourism,if you saw it you would never even think of visiting Saltcoats.

There were many claims made about my little town and although I cannot defend them all, I can say that Saltcoats was singled out and it is no better or no worse that anywhere else in the U.K.

1) drugs are rife in saltcoats.

Drugs are rife everywhere.

2) bodies are washed up on the beach every week.

Saltcoats is a seaside town bodies do end up on the beach occasionaly from suicide victims and from boating accidents,name a seaside town where there has never been a body washed up, oh not every week .

3) violence against people is rife.

I cannot deny this although it is mostly on a Friday and Saturday when the Metro (nightclub) is closing and alcohol induced.

4) You cannot walk down the street without being verbaly or physicaly abused.

5)The crime rates are very high.

The crime rate is on an equal par with the rest of the U.K.

The makers of this program exagerated the truth to get good viewing figures and didn`t care who they hurt to get there.I was born and raised in Saltcoats and I am proud to tell that to the world ......JIMMY FAE SALTCOATS
