GUY FAWKES NIGHT

On Sunday the 5th of November the whole of Britain will be celebrating Guy Fawkes night.

With bonfires and firework displays all over the uk.

The poem below tells the story of Guy Fawkes and his attempt to overthrow the king and blow up the houses of parliament with barrels of gun powder.

he and his fellow conspirators were caught red handed in the cellars of The Houses of parliament on November the 5th 1605. and the bonfire celebration started a year later in 1606.

when building the bonfire an effegy of Guy Fawkes is place on the top.

as part of the tradition children make the guy from old clothes stuffed with old news paper or straw and display them to passers by shouting penny for the guy.

Guy fawkes was hung drawn and quartered for his crimes of treason.

Remember, remember the fifth of November

The gunpowder treason and plot.

I see no reason why gunpowder treason

Should ever be forgot.

Guy Fawkes, twas his intent

To blow up king and parliament.

Three score barrels were laid below

To prove old England's overthrow

By God's mercy he was catched

With a dark lantern and lighted match.

Holler boys, holler boys, let the bells ring

Holler boys, holler boys, God save the King.

hope you enjoyed that little piece of history.....jimmy
