Two families may be joined in holy matrimony on your beach wedding day, but it doesn't mean that they are going to get along.

I think of the dinner table with my family and even I can't bare it sometimes sitting through all that squabbling.

The thought of my new husbands family enduring the same got me thinking of creative centrepiece ideas to help facilitate dialogue at the table.I thought that if my family was engrossed in conversation with David's family ,then that would surely reduce the risk of squabble.

The first few moments at the table can be awkward if you are meeting for the first time and have nothing in common.

What better way to get your guesting chatting by the use of clever table decor. Here are a few of tips why not to choose a sea themed beach wedding centrepiece, but practical ones.

FLORAL CONES
FLORAL CONES

As much as I do love the beach. In this hub I'm not going to convince you to surround your reception tables with seas shells, quite the contrary

In keeping with the practicality theme in my last hub,I think its best to keep the reception table practical and something to talk about.

TASTY CENTRE

  • Why not adorn your beach wedding reception tables with dishes from your menu.e.g if your having an al fresco style reception lunch.the ideal table decoration will be sun ripened tomatoes and bread sticks, you could also get a little more creative with your olive oil poured into clear glass jugs.

SOMETHING SWEET

  • For an early sugar rush you could serve complimentary chocolates in fluted or plain vases.

EARLY FAVORS

  • Or for a real treat place your favors in the centre of the table.
  • This will give guests something to talk about as soon as they get to the table.

SOMETHING FRUITY

  • Adorn your table with a bowl of fresh fruit for guest to tuck into while they sit through the speeches.

ROMANTIC SIMPLICITY

  • Add a single large candle holder filled with sea sand or shells ad your quiet yet effective centre piece.

FLORAL FANCIES

  • If you have several garden loving aunts at the reception then why not try a different take on the floral arrangements. place three or four flowers in a cone. This way guests can take a cone bouquet if they please without leaving the table totally bare.

Here's how to make your own cone bouquets:

  • Cut t 15-inch squares of tissue and one 6-by-6-inch square of card stock.
  • Roll card stock into cone; secure with adhesive tape or glue, and trim top.
  • You can stuff with florists sponge to keep flowers hydrated.

KID AROUND A LITTLE

  • If you have lots of kids in the party and want to get them their very own table then why not opt for a school chalk board top for the kids can express themselves rather than fall asleep during the speeches. If you cnat source the ready made chalk board why not check out your local hardware store and enquire about chalk board paint.
