Is it Time to Go HD?
54
If you have not heard of HD broadcasting, you might be living under a rock. HD stands for high-definition. It is a form of television broadcasting that brings out the highest signal quality in clarity, quality and projection. In order to take advantage of HDTV, you have to have the right cable service, the right TV and the right cables. While this seems like a lot of work, if you have to buy a new TV anytime soon, you will be one third of the way of bringing HD into your home.
Should you invest in HD? The choice is up to you. Since many people are hesitant to give HD a try, the first thing you should do is see what it is all about. You can do this by heading into a retail location and checking out the picture quality of their television demos. These will be hooked up to a high-quality HD source so you can see what all the fuss is about first hand.
Once you see what HD is all about, you can decide if you want to bring it into your home. If you purchase a new TV, they come HD-ready. It is up to you to add the cable source, which you can subscribe to HD programming with, and purchase the right cables to make the picture the best it can be. Once you have made the choice to go HD, you will not regret it. You will have the highest quality picture available on the market, and you will make back the investment in sheer enjoyment.
HD may not be for everyone. If you do not care too much about the home theater experience, HD might not be for you. You have to look at the overall investment you are making in a new TV and whether or not it is worth the cost. If not, then, sticking with your old TV or just purchasing a new one and sitting it on the sidelines are your choices.
