When choosing a name for your new baby, try to think of how you picture your child as an adult. When a little girl grows up to be a woman or a baby boy grows up to be a man, a name that always sounds like a child's name would not be enjoyable for them. Your new child will also be stuck with whatever name you give him or her for the rest of their lives.  Finding the right name for your baby is one of the most important things  that you need to decide during your pregnancy period.   

Here are some tips to help you make the right decision: 

Make a list - You probably need to list down all your choice. It is not a good idea to just keep those name in your mind. Visualized them.  

Don't rush! - You should have a list of baby names with you but don't rush to make a decision before you hold your baby in your arms. You'll know which name is the best for him or her when you look into the beautiful eyes.   

Avoid unisex names - Some names are unisex. They can be used by baby boys or girls. However, try not to name your baby boy "Kelly" although it is a unisex name with a good meaning of "warrior".  

Consider names with positive connotation - It is good to choose the name with special meaning than choose from the popular name lists. You will not know the popular names still popular in the next 20 or 30 years.   

Consider your last name - Always ensure the first and last names go well together without sounding odd. Let the baby's full name have the right balance and flows comfortably.   

Practice the baby's name and hear how it feels - Practice the baby's name more. You might feel that the name sound good for the first time or first day, but after few days you will feel that it's not so nice.   

Avoid childish name - Your baby will grow up and remember that the name you choose will be with him or her for the rest of their life. "Candy" sounds sweet for a little girl but may sounds awkward for a grown up woman.  

Say it out loud - Always say out loud the names in your list because it might sound odd if say it out loudly. Also try to avoid the same sounding name with siblings, otherwise they will confuse when you call them.   

Nickname risk - Write down the full names including the last name and avoid all possible names that can be shortened to insulting nicknames.
