There are many tips on getting pregnant available from a variety of sources. Having trouble getting pregnant is a frustrating business. Get Rid Of Excess Body Fat

There are some factors that are known to affect fertility. Obesity can decrease fertility. It's not all bad news though; because it has been proven that weight loss can reverse the negative effects and increases fertility.

Reduce Stress

Stress also affects your ability to get pregnant. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine reports that stress affects hormones. As hormones control our menstrual cycle, chronic stress can lower your chances of getting pregnant. It is a catch 22 though, as difficulty getting pregnant is stressful itself. To reduce stress they recommend talking to other people that are going through the same struggle, educate yourself on infertility, and use stress reduction techniques such as yoga or meditation.

Lifestyle Factors

Some lifestyle factors can also decrease you chances of conception. Smoking reduces fertility. Chemicals in cigarette smoke can cause your eggs to have genetic abnormalities and also interferes with estrogen production. Marijuana use can delay ovulation and result in irregular periods. Using birth control for a long time or recently also negatively impacts the ability to conceive. So, quitting smoking (whether it be marijuana or cigarettes) will help increase your chances of getting pregnant.

If you have used birth control pills, shots or implanted birth control for a long time, it may take your body some time to recover enough to conceive. Further, avoid alcohol and make sure that any prescription medications you take do not interfere with conception. There is some evidence to support that excessive caffeine intake can contribute to fertility troubles, so cut back on your coffees.

Fertility Supplements

There is also some evidence that certain supplements can promote fertility. A study in 2006 reported that women who took supplements with high iron content (over 41 mg) were more fertile than women that took no supplements at all. Further, if women ate a diet that contained higher amounts of non-animal sourced iron, they were also more fertile. Another study published in 2008 reports that women who consumed 5% of their total energy intake (calories) as vegetable (rather than animal) protein halved their risk of infertility related to ovulation.

Intercourse & Fertility

Other tips on getting pregnant from the Mayo clinic include having sex regularly, especially near your ovulation. To keep it from getting more like work than fun, try changing it up and make out in other rooms, like the kitchen. Immediately after intercourse, stay put for at least 5 minutes to increase the odds that those sperm will make it to your egg. Keep in mind though, that your partner needs at least 48 hours to produce enough sperm for round two (or three, or four). Also, taking vitamins, both prenatal and multivitamins, helps you promote your own health and the health of any babies you are blessed with.

Herbal Remedies

One final note, a study published in 2008 discusses the benefits of traditional Chinese medicine on fertility. They report that the Chinese herbs had positive effect on ovulation, better blood flow to the uterus and success with infertility caused by many disorders. Those are a few of many tips on getting pregnant, or at least some of the ones that have some clinical evidence to support them.
