There are 4 important things that you should observe while computing, which is something I "never" see people do, and have not read anything about this and is such a powerful and crucial piece of information for new and old PC users alike.

Here, I will help you determine why your P.C freezes, or stops responding at times, and what resources are draining your PC and the 4 things to observe...

(1)"The hard drive activity light. (2)The processor gauge. (3) The "ram" resources being used, and (4) The Internet data travell.".

(1)..The Hard drive activity light, (see screen pics below). If you look carefully on your PC you will see a flashing light which flashes when your hard drive is being used, i.e, "accessing data".. The faster the light flashes the more your hard drive is doing, "accessing data",and the faster the data is traveling the more the light will flash, sometimes it can flash so fast it becomes static meaning the light can remain permanently on at times which is normal. Some PCs do not have this light facility but you can easily download a "hard drive activity light" which sits in your system tray near the clock and can be easily observed.

2.To check the status of the C.P.U, (central processing unit) and the amount of resources its using can be done simply by holding down the CTR/ALT/ Del keys, OR by right clicking in the "task bar" and selecting the "task manager". Once opened, click on "options" and make sure all options are "checked/ticked", now minimise and you will see its status in the system tray near the clock. If you double click on this icon it will open. Once the windows task manager has opened you can double click on the green area to change the style and make to check the status more easily.......I would only recommend experienced users "terminating processes" which are not being used to fully optimise the PC,

3. To check the status of the amount of RAM (random access memory) which is being used. The simplest way of checking this is to download "FREERAM" which is free and is simple to install and use. Once installed it sits in the system tray showing you when the ram is being used by the "numbers" reducing in the icon in the system tray. see screen pic below which is the (202) number icon, here you will be able to determine the amount of RAM the applications and programmes are using and also help you determine if you require more..heres an excellent free software called FreeRam which will boost your existing ram, which I always use.

4. To check the status of the "Internet activity flow" is easily achieved if you have a broadband modem or router. You will easily see the flashing lights which flash faster the more the Internet datas`traveling and if theres no flashing activity then theres no data traveling..If you don't have this setup, and its not already in the system tray, which are two "small monitors." If not then click on "start","settings","control panel", then "network connections" then "right click" on your "local area connection modem/Internet connection/gateway, then select "properties" then check/tick the "show icon in notification area" box and "click" OK.. you will now see the icon appear in the system tray, which is the tray that holds the icons near the clock... see screen shot below.its the 2 small PC monitor icon.

With this information you can determine what resources are being used by your PC and what applications and programmes are "heavy" on your machine.

All these things wil help you not to keep on clicking more things while your PC is already doing stuff that are not visible. and will only stall your PC even more, or even crash it. and too wait for these lights to settle before doing other computing. With these tips you will be able to determine the status of your PC even when the monitor is switched off.
