Renewable Energy Employment Opportunities
All industries have sectors of which need to be filled. To figure out where you can apply, one must do the research and match or upgrade your existing skills to the various areas, such as in development, manufacturing and construction, operations, or specialist work.
The following is a list of some of the basic skills required to enter this job sector;
The design of the particular renewable energy product. If you have an interest in this area then learning Drafting on AutoCAD for a entry level career would be ideal. A higher education for construction and installation would be preferable.
Renewable energy products require maintenance. If one has electrical and mechancal skills and knowledge, then a job in wiring and electrical diagnostics of inverters, batteries, calculating a solar array, code conformity, and installation of electrical circuit breakers would be a ideal choice.
Operations would require knowledge in the business management field to offer administrative, financial, marketing, and commercializing of this upcoming industry.
The specialist job sector would require the higher education as this area enters the aspects of an actual plant that may operate off-shore wind projects, ocean current feasibility, etc.
Field work in this job would be the actual on-site assembly of erecting towers, wind turbines and solar arrays. This would be the most likely area to enter without a major Engineer degree.
Another area for a job opportunity, is to become a supplier of Renewable Energy products. As this industry is still fairly new and expected to rise the opportunity to become a supplier offering products at competitive prices, one could earn a comfortable lifestyle. This area would require business management skills and depend upon the success of your promotional and marketing skills.
Renewable Energy products may be difficult to sell due to the current high price ranges therefore limiting themselves to a particular income level. Research into your regional or national income levels, current and future, may help you calculate the best pricing strategy and get your new business thriving. Good luck!

Thanks Jaymowa. It is a great area to explore and I believe if more people got into it then prices would become more affordable and then it would really take off. The savings people enjoy if they could afford it is just wonderful and yes, it would provide for a cleaner energy source. :) I am glad you enjoyed this hub.
Hi, as world turns, many undevelop country still using tradition way to save energy and cost..we must too think of this industry that why i have build up site that educate people around globe to be green eco friendly earth habitat! check everyone world renewable energy source at greensolarvalley
Leave a feedback on by emailing for referring friends..each circle of people can save to one hundred to one thousand..green. if you have eco friendly products and site services it great site to be on.
Educate-share-earn good living!
Thank you Dame good topic idea!

Hi Jfkcanada, I am sure they can see that as well as me. :) lol
Florida primarily has two areas of need in the RE supply chain. The first essential is sales and marketing. Contractors and installers require the engineering background you refer to and are the hands-on second term in the RE equation. Someone sells a product or service in RE and receives compensation. He/she is a commissioned salesperson. For example, a 10% commission nets the salesperson 10% of everything they sell. That sounds simple enough. RE systems such as solar photovoltaic or thermal heaters are substantial investments. Only authorized salespersons can quote prices.
According to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation, however, authorization to quote prices solely rests with the licensed contractor involved. Many solar companies are advertising solar photovoltaic and thermal, i.e. water heaters or pool heaters. They typically want to hire “outside independent contractors” to survey potential customers. The salesperson happily runs off, armed with marketing information, business cards and of course, financial contracts. They cannot quote prices unless they are a direct employee of the licensed contractor. An energy consultant does not sell cosmetics or vitamins. He/she cannot legally represent the chosen installer or contractor while working as a separate independent contractor.
The “outside independent contractor” salesperson is eligible to receive a finder’s fee or establish an appointment for the official contractor. Once you find a good lead, you can ballpark prices, discuss incentives and potential concerns. The official contractor will then complete a site survey, which takes into account solar exposure and other relevant issues. A solar contractor or employee sizes up the job and prices his quote. Solar contractors are legally bound to a quote, whereas an independent contractor cannot be.
There are related fields that do not require one to be an installer or contractor. Advertising is always a possibility. Every contractor or installer needs door hangers, business cards and promotional literature. In some cases, tele marketing can apply. There are restrictions, and everybody needs to check do not call rules, etc before engaging.
Consumer financing, whether residential or commercial, also plays an important role. An effective salesperson should research how and why they can help a customer finance their RE project. Teach homeowners to understand the state and federal RE incentive programs. Businesses are likewise entitled to take lucrative tax advantages. You should learn enough to be able talk to tax advisors regarding commercial ventures. Imagine ways to develop your present skill set to include renewable energy.
Hi Timeemits, Employment laws vary state to state and in Canada. Yes, there are limits and qualification requirements to entering this field of which I have pointed out the minimum requisites. You should write a Hub with the above information and thank you for pointing out that I missed advertising. Thank you for sharing your comments and visiting.
