With a toaster poacher you can make a great tasting and nutritious breakfast sandwich in under 5 minutes. Add a juice box or small milk carton and you're out the door with a hearty breakfast sandwich that will carry you through to lunch, no problem. If you haven't already seen a toaster poacher, it combines the best of toasters and egg poachers.

You'll find the toaster poacher combination with 2 or 4 slices. The 4 slice and 2 egg combination will let the busiest of couples or families with 2 children get breakfast simultaneously. I like the toaster poacher that also heats meat so you can have a meat, egg, and toast sandwich. It won't cook bacon, but it will reheat it.

I love using whole grain english muffins for my breakfast sandwich. It ensures that I have the long-lasting fiber that keeps my blood sugar from plumeting and staves off hunger. I can also include hearty breads such as pumpernickel or rye to keep from getting bored.

I don't just use canadian bacon, or as Leo prefers bologna, some times I stick in some left-over meatloaf intothe toaster poacher for an extra-tasty breakfast sandwich.

After you pop the eggs in the toaster poacher, there's nothing stopping you from adding salt and pepper, or you can really get creative and add a mixture of cajun spices; or any other spice mixture that would taste good with eggs for you.

Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher

The Back to Basics TEM500 Egg-and-Muffin 2-Slice Toaster and Egg Poacher was my choice for a toaster poacher because it also included a way to heat up meat as well. This last function is really necessary if you're going to successfully compete with the fast food restaurants for your family's morning attention. Yes, it only holds 2 slices of toast, so if we both want a breakfast sandwich one of us has to wait. But I prefer oatmeal most mornings so that isn't an issue in our household.

The toast and egg are both ready in 4 minutes. The toast slots are wide so you can use nice thick slices of bread or bagels. And the toasting settings go from light to dark. There's also an automatic shut-off which is really necessary for people in a hurry. It's so easy to get caught up in the morning rush that you forget to shut off kichen appliances such as the coffee pot.

I do take a few minutes in between breakfast sandwiches to clean the poaching and meat warming trays. It makes the final clean up easier and the breakfast sandwiches look better.

Back to Basics TEM4500 4-Slot Egg-and-Muffin Toaster

If you need to feed a lot of hearty morning appetities then you should look at the Back to Basics TEM4500 4-Slot Egg-and-Muffin Toaster. Not only can you cook 4 slices of toast or English muffins, but you can cook up to 8 eggs at one time. As well as warm up some meat. Again this toaster poacher won't cook meat, just heat it up. So you do have to plan ahead a little. I just make sure there's some cooked Canadian Bacon available. But as I wrote before, there's nothing stopping you from using last night's meatloaf, roast beef, or pork chop. I just slice them and pop them in the meat warmer. I'm for anything that uses leftovers efficiently.

The poacher function lets you decided between soft boiled and hard boiled eggs. There's also a defrost function for frozen bagels. Everything should still cook in about 4 minutes.
