The traffic in India is a challenging task to the traffic department now a days.

The transport authorities have many meetings and the traffic police discuss about the traffic control. The transport ministry in the central and state level plan to control the traffic but all go in vain.

The reason is that they do not know the ultimate reason for the traffic conjustion.

Nano car is going to be a boon to the middle class men. Thanks to TATA.

But, is the roads enough to accept more cars on the existing road.

I read an article to day in a news paper that a driver who was under the influence of alcohol, drove his car recklessly, thus causing death to an young marriend man, who is employed as a team lead to a BPO company in Chennai.

He was returning back in his bike with his wife and his infant child after visitng his in laws. He never knwew that his life is going to end. But it happened. The poor young woman is now a widow. This happened because a reckless drunkard had driven his car carelessly.Do you know the maximum punichment he is going to receive is a cash fine and sometimes an imprisonment for a period of 1 year. But , will this bring the lost of life of that young man?

As long as the law is fearful, the traffic violators will not worry to abide to law of traffic.

I am afraid that the lisensing system in India requires a strict revival and procedures. During 1973, when I wanted to avail the driving license I was asked to drive the car for a distance of about 50 feet and within that time limit I was absorbed by the testing authority as how I was handling the mechanisms of the motor car and how I am capable of stopping the vehicle and within that the time the authority could come to a discission that I am capable to drive a car. Similarly for the motor cycle they asked me to make 8 in a ground without keeping the foot on the ground like merry globe motorist ride his bike in side a globe like thing. When I am found that I can balance the motor cycle I was granted a driving license.During those days the childrne of a village used to run behind a car for a long distance just for merry sake as they were not familiar with the motor car. And a motor cyclist would be requested by a school boy to take him in the motor cycle's pillion for a ride .

And similarly, in those days buying a motor cycle or a car was a richman's possibility. So the traffic was not much. Many were going in the bicycles. And those days,going "doubles" in bicycles were considered as a crime.The Policemen who see a cyclist carrying another person in his bicycle would be punished by removing the air of the cycle's wheel or would be asked to pay a fine of 25 paise (4 annas) in those days.

But now cycles are becoming a rare variety of transport.

So, the population of the motor cars and the motor cycles are growing rapid with the help of the financial companies who offer an attractive loan offers.Earlier in Mount road( now it is called as Anna Salai) in Chennai , we used to see 10 cars waiting for a red signal to change to green. But now we are able to see not less than 20 varieties of cars and not less than 100 in number are waiting in the signal. The raod is the same. Thanks to the Government for making some developments in Road. Tehy name some as fly overs, some as sub ways,some as butterfly roads and so on. Now you ask the road using commercial drivers or the other derivers about the new roads and the traffic rules to follow in such roads.

I am afraid. Not even 1 % of the commercial drivers know about it. I do not blame them. Because they are not taught about it. Is it not necessary to educate them about the present traffic rules and the procedures to adopt in the new type of Roads?

Once I was travelling from Trichy to Salem in Tamilnadu where the road was made for twin traffic.Before me was a truck with a heavy load. I wanted to over take that vehicle so I took all precautions before making my attempts to overtake. I was very careful and was planning to speed up my vehicle. By then I saw another truck coming opposit to us. So I went behind the truck which was before me going.But suddenly the truck driver of my directions stopped the vehicle without any cautionery signs. Yes! with all difficulties I also could stop my vehicle. And was waiting for the truck to move. But it did not move at all. Suddenly it struck into my mind that the truck  which was coming opposit to me also did not pass me. So I came out of my car and found both the truck drivers were gossipping in the middle of the road making the rest of the road users to wait for them to strat their further travel. Is this the way a commercial driver be taught. Should they not be punished for the crime of blocking the rest of the road users" time?

You must be knowing that the doctors have seminars, Engineers have seminars and like that many professionals have seminars to update their knowledge in their respective profession.

Is there any such seminars for the drivers to have their knowledge updated?

Recently a doctors' son who was only 16 years of age, took his father's mo bike and went out for a jolly ride and met with an accident and went to coma.His parnets are doctors and understood that he was dyeing so decided to donate his organs to the needy. A loving son is now living in many bodies. This is due to lack of knowledge about motordriving. If the child was taught about motor driving with all dos and donts, this accident would not have hapened at all.

And the motor vehicle inspector takes 20 minutes to test a person to qualify him in driving.But, no theoritical knowledge really is completed by the applicant who wnats to avail the driving license.

My ambition is that the automobile driving course shoudl be taught as an extra curricular adtivity along with the regular course of education. They must be taught the importance of the roads,its uses, action during accidents and so on.

They must appear for such theiritical tests during their school studies. During their college studies each students must be taught the practical training of motor driving.

While the rest of the drivers (the commercial drivers), should be provided a regular class to learn motor driving atleast for 6 months.It should not be taught as the other courses are taught commercially. The life of the driver is very risky,unlike other professions. The driver also should know the technic to take rest and to drive his vehicle with vigile.
