This hub “Getting quality web traffic for your website” is a modification of my earlier hub “using search engines for your internet business”.

The success of any website lies in the quality of web traffic the website receives. I was not surprised that Mark Zuckerberg, the owner of Facebook is the youngest billionaire in the world. According to Alexia traffic rating, Facebook is number 2, Google remains number 1 while yahoo came in third position.

Imagine this; Facebook receives an approximate daily visitor’s i.e. web traffic of about 70 million people every day. With this torrent of web traffic, Facebook makes money through revenue accrued from advertisement--- thanks to its high web traffic.

I define a website web traffic from two perspectives:

1) Unique Visitors-

The most important aspect of web traffic is the unique visits. The actual figure for this can be obtained from the host provider of such website.

An approximate web traffic of unique visitors can be obtained using statbrain. Now, what is a unique visit?

A unique visit means that the visitor spends about 5-30 minutes on the website, navigating from one webpage to the other.

2) Page Views

As the name implies, this reveals a visitor that just flips through the website without actually spending time or navigating the webpages. The web traffic under a page view is not reliable because it shows that visitors are not really interested in the website content

The next question now is how can I get and increase web traffic to my website?

1) Leverage using Search engines

To me, you can do this self manually, read my hub on “using search engines for your internet business”.

Do this and you will see an increase in your web traffic

2) The use of social networking websites

This is a very important step you need to employ.

Facebook, as a social networking website receives about 70 million visitors a day, therefore set up a group and profile there. After setting up the group and profile, then insert the link of your website on it.

Also, set up a profile at twitter, stumbleupon, dig, reddit, delicious e.t.c.

Thanks. Useful tips. I've done all except for the Facebook Tip. I'm glad I read your Hub and will set up a group there in the next few days for my other websites. Regards, E.
