55How I Arrived At Transendental Meditation
For many years now I have practiced many discipline's from NLP, hypnosis. I have read numerous books on all kinds of self development, some have been inspiring, others just seem to be flogging you some kind of short term life line for exchange for a fat load of cash!
One day i sat down and I asked myself this question
What is the purpose of me improving myself?
- To improve myself (doh!)
- To feel good about myself
- To protect myself
The last one stooped me in my tracks protect myself from what exactly? Well life, all the stresses and strains and uncertainties of life.
Well Ok if this was the case with all that I knew how come, that on a day to day bases I did not feel protected, quite the opposite really.
So what was the solution?
Well I would like to tell you it was a kind of instant over night thing, but like many things in life this was not the case, however i did begin to develop a fascination with meditation as a great stress technique , I entered into a huge world, there seemed to be a meditation for every day of the week and everyone seemed to me to be saying there's was the best, and other peoples did not work as well as there's. Luckily I have always been a bit of a freelancer in that I pick up what works for me and discard the rest. And so begin my fledgling venture into the world of meditation, and very beneficial and enjoyable it was.
However in September 2008 to events occurred that elevated my self meditation to another level
- I went on a transcendental meditation course
- I read Paul Wilson's The quiet
