Treatment for Pain
52About treatment for pain, there is a reason we have pain and that is to stop us from injuring ourselves further as the pain will normally stop us from doing any more damage. Anything can trigger pain from a headache to a broken bone but the pain gives us an indication of where and what the problem is. The real problem occurs when the pain will not go away despite out best efforts to treat the cause of it.
People in this situation are said to be suffering with ‘chronic pain' which is a persistent feeling, the type that exists with back pain for example and unlike those of ‘acute pain' which is intense but can be treated. Chronic pain afflicts millions of people and there is no way for you to be completely sure of preventing chronic pain as it can strike at any stage of your life, as a result of an accident or disease. It is also true that quite often the root cause of the pain is actually treated but faulty nerve connections believe the condition still exists and create pain signals which eventually become the condition and not the result of it.
The problem with prescription medication is that it is easy to become dependent and as time progresses the drugs become less effective but the dependence remains; or there are serious side effects to be considered and many are now turning towards natural pain relief treatments as long term alternatives. Although there are a number of natural pain relief systems in use, probably the most often used is acupuncture especially by those who unfortunately suffer with chronic pain. This method of pain relief has been used successfully in China and the East for many thousands of years.
Anyone that has used acupuncture will say how effective it is and those that use it are generally suffering from chronic pain like that caused by arthritis, back pain and migraines for example. Other alternative therapies are used to provide natural pain relief like herbal remedies which can also make claim to being side effect free. There are usually several herbal treatments used in natural pain relief for a particular conditions; popular herbal remedies include Emu oil, which can alleviate the pain of arthritis, and good old Vitamin E, which helps minimize scarring.
The downside of herbal treatments used is they often take longer to achieve noticeable results; the upside is that you aren't introducing man-made foreign compounds into your body, and run less risk of side effects or damaging your overall health. If the truth be known then one way of even having to avoid natural treatment for pain is to change the way you life by eating healthier which means cutting back on processed foods but increasing your intake of fruit and vegetables. People often underestimate the need for proper sleep and disregard any advice on regular exercise like walking and refraining from using the elevator to use the stairs, both of which are good for the heart.
