Uric acid is your problem, also called the rich man's disease

Uric acid is a created by your body to break down substances called purines. Purines are found in some foods and drinks, such as liver, anchovies, mackerel, dried beans and peas, (who really cares they are in these foods). Beer, meat, and wine. CRAP, this is where it gets us.

Most uric acid dissolves in blood and travels to the kidneys, where you piss it out. If your body produces too much uric acid or doesn't remove enough if it, you will get gout. High levels of uric acid in the body is called hyperuricemia (only Dr. need to know words like this).

1) Uric Acid Crystals can take a long time (months to years) to build up. Beer, wine , and meat. Most commonly in tissues in and around joints, especially in the lower part of your body. During this time there may well be no symptoms whatsoever. About 95% of people with hyperuricaemia (high uric acid in the blood supply) will not have a gout attack in their entire life. (obviously not you) Pain in the heel, "Achilles Tendon", is common. Sometimes uric acid problems are even misdiagnosed as Rheumatoid Arthritis (medicines prescribed are the same). (Following is the medical reason for the misdiagnoses) The uric acid crystals will cut into the synovial fluid sacks that cushion all joints and release the synovial fluid into the blood. This can cause blood readings to indicate Rheumatoid Arthritis when in fact the problem is really uric acid crystals.

2) Acute attacks are where a single joint (toe, elbow, wrist, knee)is almost always the start, and most often in the joint of the big toe. Typically local irritation and aching proceeds to tissues becoming swollen, red, hot, shiny and extremely painful. The pain is the worst ever experienced.

3) There are times between attacks. Experts say some never have a second attack(bullshit), or perhaps after many years, but in most the second attack occurs within a year. The frequency, severity, and number of joints involved tend to increase over time (that sucks), eventually leading into joint damage and chronic pain after an average of about 10 years.

4) If left alone, gout can cause deformity. You will become the elephant man, got it

Febuxostat (under the brand name Adenuric) is used for the treatment of elevated levels of uric acid in the body - known as chronic hyperuricaemia - in gout patients.

Three main types of drugs are used in treating Gout.

Colchicine helps relieve the symptoms of gout by reducing inflammation. Allopurinol (Lopurin, Zyloprim) reduces the amount of uric acid produced in the body. Probenecid (Benemid, Probalan) and sulfinpyrazone (Anturane) help the body get rid of excess uric acid.
