Tree tattoo patters and designs are among the most versatile there are out there, as the variety of trees and their diverse shapes, colors and sizes offer up endless material to work from, and the opportunity to blend and mix them with other themes and figures to make up some great tattoo images.

As with other tattoos, trees have an enormous amount of symbolism connected to culture, history and religion, which is part of the mythology which attracts people to have them inked on their bodies.

Trees and their uniqueness represent so many things across the human perspective that they project much of life we live and experience, and continue to fascinate us with their mystical and practical quality.

But another element is the nature of trees themselves, which offer tattoo designers and artists not only story material and background, but terrific material to work with in the roots, limbs, branches and leaves which accompany them. No wonder tree tattoos are so desirable among both men and women who enjoy them.  

The tree below with no leaves is very nice. Of course there are a couple of leaves included near the top of the tree, which to me really adds to the look and accentuates the rest of the tree branches and limbs.

I really like the lines included with this tree tattoo, which are very uniform throughout.

Cherry Blossom tree tattoos are especially popular among women, and really do work well when the design is done right, It fits well with the female figure, although occasionally some men have them too, but they never look as good as with the ladies.

The one below is exceptional to me, and the dark and light browns are blended very well together, and is very difficult to do. Nice!

As the caption says, what's unique about this tree tattoo is it's narrowness, and I think the added leave color works too.

You don't see a lot of tree tattoos which go up the back like this that are slender looking and not spread. We'll look at some of those in a little while, but I wanted so show you one that is different but is done in a way that really looks impressive.

This cherry blossom tree tattoo is different in the relatively few blossoms, but also in its emphasis upon the roots and strong trunk rather than the branches and blossoms.

Great lines on this sleeve tree tattoo. The color looks great and the leaves are compelling and interesting.

This is one of those tattoos that shows the way a tree can be made to look good on almost any part of the body.

This is fantastic to me. The love theme of the embracing male and female tree, the world up in the top of the branches, and entwining branches and colorful top make this a great tattoo.

This back piece tree tattoo has a foreboding look, and the colors and lines add to that with their dark tint and hue. Also the pointedness of the limbs give you the feeling of haunted and potential peril.

This is an unusual tattoo, and while it is done very nicely, the perception it leaves does cause me to wonder why she chose this one. Maybe it's something in her life she is saying. 

While this is a powerful tattoo, it again, like the last one, causes you to pause to think on what the reasoning behind this is. Why someone hanging from a tree? The crows or ravens look like they've either been feeding or are about to feed on the carcass of the woman.

Just a strange message being sent for a tattoo, but it is definitely done and designed extremely well. Not for me though.

This is an extraordinary tree tattoo design, although it's really busy and far too full and dark for me.

I would have liked to have had something more than the tree and seemingly endless branches with this one. It is a great design in quality, but you look at it and feel something is missing, even though it's huge in size.

This isn't of the quality of design and workmanship of the tattoos above, but it had a lot of potential.

What I think would have really been great if the woman had any children would have been to include them swing or swinging and playing together. Otherwise an empty swing doesn't do or say much, except to the one wearing it.

Of course maybe she has no children or has lost some, and so the empty swing could symbolize something like that.

Although it's not obvious, it could also be pointing to the saying at the bottom "we'll all float," which may be represented by the tire swing; although if it is, it's not an obvious meaning.

Still, it's a good tattoo, which I think could have even been better.

As you can see from these tree tattoos, there are an endless number of themes and additions you could use and make with them. I purposely didn't include many tree that had other elements like animals, insects and birds, etc., as I wanted to primarily highlight trees themselves in this article in order to show you how you can take one and them wrap a number of other images and themes with it to create some great tattoos.
