When it comes to any review, you have to look at the source. The problem with reviews online is that many places do not check to see if they are coming from an reliable source. Sometimes companies will post positive reviews to increase sales, and sometimes people who are just disgruntled with a particular brand will post scatching negative reviews to deter folks from buying something. When it comes down to it, should you trust online electronics reviews?

It is hard to say if you can trust online electronic reviews anymore. Most web sites, including Amazon.com allow anybody to say their piece on a particular product. While most of these are honest reviews, they can be misleading if a customer truly feels they have been wronged. Often times, consumers get angry when products are not what they expect or do not do what they want to do - even if they are at fault - and will share that information with anyone who comes across it. While it is their every right to share their opinion, it may not be the best source for information when deciding on that particular product yourself.

When it comes down to it, you need to trust your instinct. When researching a product, read through reviews but do not consider them as your only source for choosing whether to buy something or not. Check out specifications and determine if the product itself meets your needs. If not, whether the reviews are gold or garbage, at least you will know for yourself if it is right for you.

Trusting online reviews, whether it be on consumer electronics or other items, should always go with your instincts. If you feel a review might be false, over-zealous or otherwise misleading, disregard it. This goes for positive and negative reviews. Just trust your gut, buy what you need and while sometimes you may not get what you were looking for, at least you will not be misled by online reviews.
