What is #TwitterLove?

It's March 21, 2009 and not only is it my daughter's 18th birthday and the first day of spring but today it is also Twitter's Birthday. Let's Celebrate! Twitter is three years old today. Congratulations to Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone [on TED] and others on their team.

I would really call that shouting out some twitterlove.

The New York Times published an article about sugar today. We could easily connect love with sugar and sweets. Well, this is a new era. The public has made it known that corn syrup and sweeteners are out and sugar is back in vogue. The Times states sweets are, "Blamed for hyperactivity in children and studied as an addictive substance, sugar has had its share of image problems. But the widespread criticism of high-fructose corn syrup — the first lady, Michelle Obama, has said she will not give her children products made with it — has made sugar look good by comparison.

Lets give hugs and twitterlove rather than treats.
This is a very strong statement and carries a lot of weight when our first lady boldly goes where others have demured to go. We must get our nation back on track for healthy eating and living. Lets give real love and not substitute artificial sweeteners. Of course, there will be those holding up progress. As much as I "love" scientists [yes, my husband is one of those.] The Times articles goes on to state,

• Most scientists do not share the perception.Though research is still under way, many nutrition and obesity experts say sugar and high-fructose corn syrup are equally bad in excess. But, as is often the case with competing food claims, the battle is as much about marketing as it is about science.

Twitterlove, like hugs, says I appreciate you. I like you. I support what you are doing and saying.

Twitter is the fastest growing Social Network, MicroBlog that connects friends, families, co-workers, businesses and people around the world. Limited to 140 characters, tweets are shortened into pithy statements. Lengthy greetings and communications use symbols and hashtags to give meaning and link groups with similar interests.

THE EVOLUTION OF TWITTER
The secret language behind these signs are evolving as people use this system and mode of communication. The codes will expand as we find new uses for them. This is what I've gleaned so far.

GRATITUDE FOR RECOMMENDATIONS
People have been using #TwitterLove as a form of gratitude. Use this sweet sign to thank people for their generosity. Maybe they've become a friend or follower. On "FollowFriday tweeters recommend people to follow. That's a good time to send out twitterlove. If you have a twitwall you can recommend people visit your wall and become a fan.

THANK YOU NOTE
Use twitterlove to thank people for Retweeting [RT] or for helping out when you ask a question that needed an answer.

SUPPORT ACKNOWLEDGED
Just like a hug or a phone call that reaches out and touches someone. Using the word love delivers a heartfelt emotion.

ENCOURAGEMENT
Twitterlove shows encouragement and affirmation. Send #twitterlove to anyone out there on twitter that is going through a crisis, hard time, healing and needs prayer or encouragement.

RELATIONSHIP BUILDING
People are actually forming relationships through the twitter Social Network. Therefore, people could fall into "Twitterlove." You could tweet your divine love a sugary message with a "Twitterlove" salutation. In this open social network, when people see all the chattering back and forth they might inquire, "So, are you guys in #Twitterlove?"

One tweeter did an informal survey asking whether any romances, marriages, and children were started on Twitter.

People pronounce how they simply adore the medium of Twitter in its many wonderful ways. Here's a sweet tweet, "..thing I love about twitter is that it's always alive no matter what time it is! twitterlove"

Where ever you might use the term, "love," you can substitute "twitterlove."

DRESS UP THE HOLIDAY
Of course it comes in handy for Valentine's Day and any other holiday where love is the main ingredient.

Read "Five Ways to Show Twitter Love" by Shonali Burke an independent consultant who believes in the power of community. Enamored with the power of twitter she wrote a blog for others who have fallen in love with Twitter. Shonali listed five ways to show your Twitter love on Valentine’s Day:

Some profess their "Twitterlove" at all times of day. Any hugs and kisses out there? I won't be surprised when we hear about marriage proposals via Twitter. In that case, people will be going offline to consumate the relationship.

We Love Twitter
We absolutely love our little ones when they are young. So too, Twitter is in her infancy and we have no idea how she will grow and what direction she will take as she moves forward with input from so many creative minds.
