Despite their popularity, Ugg boots have been disparaged for being some of the ugliest footwear ever created.  Has that stopped them from being seen everywhere from the beaches to the streets of Beverly Hills?  Absolutely not.  If you're asking if it will still be acceptable by the fashion police to wear them in the near future, the answer is a resounding yes.  Why?  Because even fashionistas want to be comfortable and comfort never goes out of style.

Why Uggs have Remained so Popular

Ugg boots were never meant to be beautiful. They were created with comfort and functionality in mind, nothing more. In fact, their name says it all. Ugg is short for ugly.

There's nothing ugly about the feel of Uggs, though. Sliding your feet into a pair of these cozy, sheepskin lined boots is one of the most beautiful feelings your feet will ever experience. They keep your feet warm without making them sweat. Your feet remain at optimal temperatures no matter what the temperature is indoors or out. The Merino sheepskin feels so good it's almost more like wearing socks than shoes.

The History of Uggs

Uggs started out as practical boots for Australian sheepherders.  Later on, during WW1, pilots discovered they were the perfect footwear to wear when flying.  It got cold up in the wild blue yonder and Ugg boots were ideal to keep their feet from suffering.

A few decades ago, surfers discovered that Ugg boots were the perfect choice for footwear when they came out of the water.  The thermostatic benefits kept their feet warm even when temperatures were cool and cool when temperatures were soaring.

Over the last few years, the popularity of Uggs has spread to the general public.  It turned out it was nearly impossible to keep secret the incredible comfort of this funny looking footwear.  It is not unusual today to spot celebrities proudly sporting Uggs with their fashionable ensembles.

Uggs are for Everyone

You don't have to be a sheepherder, pilot or a surfer to appreciate the benefits of Ugg footwear.  They are now available in a wide variety of styles and colors.  Tall, short, cuffed, or uncuffed, Uggs can be seen on feet around the world.

It doesn't seem to matter if you are a male or a female, young or old.  Uggs are made for everyone from infants to grandparents.  Whether you live in the frigid mountains of Alaska or reside in sunny Florida, Uggs have a prominent place in the footwear collection of people everywhere.

A Wise Investment

Another reason Ugg boots will remain popular for years to come is that they are extremely durable.  Yes, they may be a little pricey at first, but once you make the initial investment you will benefit from it for years to come.  With just a little care, your Uggs will remain new looking for a very long time.

So are Uggs going to be seen on catwalks this year?  Probably not.  They may not even be seen as frequently as they have in years past.  Despite the best efforts of shoe designers everywhere, however, Uggs are here to stay.
