The world of internet is constantly under threat. Online security is an important issue as various measures to combat virus, worms and related malwares are being researched. This hub will give a brief understanding on malwares, spyware detection and an elaborate summary of the various types of computer viruses.
Malware program is basically an online threat application program. Malwares programs are created to damage the computer. They do various harms such as to steal, modify, block or to totally erase information on the computer system. They can even disrupt computer or a computer network operation.
Viruses and worms are forms of malwares programs. Viruses and worms can create copies of themselves, and then spread by simply reproducing themselves. Basically, viruses and worms perform their malicious acts when executed.
Understanding Viruses
On infiltrating a computer system, a virus infects a file, activate itself, performs its malicious action, then they duplicate themselves to other files. One particular feature of a classic virus is that it can only reproduce within the local resources of the infected computer, but they cannot independently penetrate other computers. Classic viruses can only be distributed to other computers if an infected file is stored in a shared folder or by an email message containing an infected attachment.
Types of Computer Viruses Include:
Overwriting Virus:
These viruses replace the original code of an infected file with their own code.
This act simply destroys the file containing the original content.
Parasitic Virus:
Parasitic virus is a type of virus that affects computer system. Parasitic virus simply modifies a file. They turn a file into a fully or partially operating file
Companion Virus:
Companion virus duplicates a file. So, in a caser where the infected file is then opened, it’s the duplicate that will run instead of the original
